How to unlock the 3 The Hard Way achievement in NBA JAM - Definitive Guide

I tried three different times with finally settling with Orlando. Use Dwight Howard for almost everything. He can block almost everything and dunk without being blocked like everyone else.
When it comes to the Boss Battles there are easy ones and then some tough ones.
Easy ones:
Kobe, Wade, James, Paul, Bird (dont let him get hot), and Dr. J.
Tough ones:

Shaq- Get the ball and score, after scoring, go to the top of the key. Once there run back and forth. When Shaq tries to shove, avoid it and score with ease. Continue till the time runs out.

Magic Johnson- With Dwight Howard, stand under the basket and try to block his shots as Magic teleports

Yao- Same way that you use to beat Shaq. Just make sure when "M" shows upthat you grab it. It makes Yao small and keeps him from blocking your shots,

Karl Malone- He shoves like crazy so for this one, I took Rashard Lewis. Lewis is quick and can shoot 3 pointers. Same method as with Shaq, but score 3 quick dunks. Then you are on fire so shoot threes all day to win.

I hope this helps. These guys are annoying to face and beating them takes time. I did it this way so if you follow I hope it helps.

Thanks, the tips for Magic and Shaq helped me out.
I played as Boston, so used Larry Bird a lot for quick stealing and 3s against Shaq (and running the clock down) and Kevin Garnett as my blocker against Magic Johnson

I did it with the rockets. Any 2v2 I would use hakeem and yao and for everything else I used hakeem. And used kenny smith as my 3 shooter if the situation arose. All the boss tips were amazing though thanks

Great tips! Thanks! Also the crossover move is tremendous in trying for this achievement. Unlocking Shaq to have 2 big men is also extremely useful. Both of these mentioned in other guides but are key essentials

This worked great for me. I did have a bit of trouble with Karl Malone though; he kept shoving me before I could get the three-pointer off. I eventually realized though that if you can manage one shot, then start with possession of the ball, you can beat him just by spamming A and crossing over to his right. You'll slip right by him and can dunk the ball. Once I did this trick, I was able to beat him without him shoving me once.

The remix tour involves beating all divisions, obtaining every medal, and defeating the bosses of each section.

I recommend using the Orlando Magic as they are stacked both defensively and offensively. You may also unlock Shaq to play with you by unlocking him. You unlock him by playing one game of Smash in the remix modes section vs the computer

The game modes include:

2 vs 2 Remix - Normal game with 2 min quarters. I used Carter and Howard vs most opponents and Shaq and Howard toward the toughest battles such as against mascot teams.

Smash - Break the backboard using dunks. Use Howard and Shaq

Elimination - Try to keep your score higher than other opponents until the time limit is over. Use Howard. Tip - if both computer players have the same score, they will both be eliminated saving time!

21 - Use Howard and go to town. I suggest crossing over off the pass and trying to go up for a dunk or short jumper.

Domination - Use Howard on singles domination, don't worry about the 3 point spots, just dunk from the middle 3. If its 2 person domination use Howard and Carter.

Boss Battles - Use Howard, each bosses have their own strength but you will eventually learn how to counteract them. Focus on trying to block and push them down. Use the crossover to dunk to your advantage.

I hope I was of some help! Now enjoy me shutting out the Beastie Boys 22-0 :)

If you pick the right team this achievement is not too hard. From the start pick the Orlando Magic as they have the best big man in the game plus they have Shaq which will help you if you need too solid, strong shot blocking big men. They also have a dunker and a shooter so your set in all aspects. For the Boss Battles use D.Howard as he the best block, strength, dunk, and a good dribble for a big man at 6. Against the Beastie Boys use D.Howard and use your strength to your advantage. Be aggressive! Block shots shove, and steal your way too victory. I beat it my first try but it might take you longer since its a 4 way game of 21.

Yup.

Magic are definitely great for this achievement. I used Howard and Carter for all the Remix games, Lewis and Carter for Domination, Howard and Shaq for Smash, and Howard for all boss battles, games of 21, and elimination.

The only boss battle that was sorta tough was magic, but once you get control of the ball he's not too tough to crossover. I won the beastie boys challenge 22-0-0-0 with Howard so it's not very tough if you make it there.

Good luck.

Howard is good for domination cause he dunks from those corner threes and the other team can never score

I beat my first try using Pierce of all people. I just sat there while the B Boys were busy stealing the ball from each other. Eventually the ball lands in your hands and quickly shot 3s the whole time. Beginners luck I guess.

I used the Celtics (mainly Larry Bird) for every side game / boss and it was pretty easy if you play with Bird/McHale. Let Bird rain 3-pointers all day while McHale rebounds since he's pretty strong. He's good at shot blocking.

After you take on all 30 NBA teams and complete all bronze, silver, and gold challenges getting you a 180/180 in the Remix Tour, you will face the Beastie Boys. You will face the Beastie Boys after the credits are finished in a 4-way 21 game.

The difficulty seems to rise based on the level of the challenge, so if you are doing a gold challenge then prepare for tough challenge from the CPU. The boss battles can and will frustrate you. If you allow the boss to get on fire, then it is game over for you. Restart will be your best friend throughout the remix tour. Anytime the boss and your opponents catch on fire or if it looks like you will lose, then use the restart option to try again.

For tips to beat the bosses please use the JAM Boss level strategy thread created by wonder.

To unlock this, you will need to get 180/180 on the remix tour and you will face the Beastie Boys after the credits. This is going to be one of the toughest achievements in the game. Make sure when you start your remix mode, you have practiced enough with the team you have chosen. Some of the Boss battles are going to be incredibly tough, especially the games of 21. Make sure to get a good start and don't hesitate to restart the match if your opponent catches fire. See this thread for any additional boss strategies.
