How to unlock the Hero's Journey achievement in NBA LIVE 19 - Definitive Guide
Each icon has a sort of “nickname” associated with the player. I choose to max out Ray Allen also known in-game as “The Sniper”. To upgrade your icon, you need to earn XP from playing actual games and achieving goals set out for you for each game. There are three tiers to progress through – Bronze, Silver and Gold. As you progress through the tiers you will gain abilities making the game much easier. At the very end of each tier, you will be forced to choose between two special abilities – the choice you make is a permanent one and CANNOT be reversed! Choose carefully.
As you progress you will also earn things like cool jerseys, nifty shoes, and neat player animations you can tack onto your player. As soon as you Max out the Icon through the three tiers your achievement will pop! I found it a fun way to advance my created player – in this case mimicking the career progression of Ray Allen.
Like every other achievement, you can play with sliders and difficulty. If you want, you can change the skill to “Rookie” although this makes the game incredibly easy. You can also max out quarter time – this gives you more time to earn the goals set out for you. There are other options for you to exploit too if you wish. You really can't help to earn this if you play a few seasons. Good luck!
Icon Progression Path's are new this year and each requires 35,000 XP to complete. There are Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers. Icon path completion maxes out a bonus skill independent to regular leveling. Each has a nickname. For example: Russell Westbrook's path name is 'BeastMode'. Maxing out each color's tier gives you a choice of 1 of 2 abilities that you cannot change once confirmed, as well as 5 or more upgrade points for each. The IPP is basically the specific real-life NBA or WNBA players rise up to where they are today, or it could be a Legend/H.O.F. player like Magic Johnson or Larry Bird that you follow as you gain XP to give you unique abilities, animation packages and jerseys throughout that players career. An example is Lebron James where you start out as a young James with his High School jersey up to today in his Lakers jersey. Let's say you create yourself as a Guard. Guards aren't generally known for their shot blocking abilities but with this system, you can level up that ability, as the second one I did (WNBA's Candace Parker) had the signature ability of shot blocking. Allen Iverson's was stealing. Just complete 1 and the trophy pops.
