How to unlock the Hail Mary achievement in NBA Playgrounds - Definitive Guide

Just a couple notes for this achievement.

You must be behind the backcourt when the shots released. I used Ray Allen and he did three different shot animations for back court shots. Two of those animations made him jump forward several feet. So I had to start my shot from behind the half court circle to actually do it most times.

As far as I can tell, you have to perform a perfectly timed shot to make it, which should count for 5 points if done correctly.

Also the achievement doesn't pop until the end of the game.

can I ask you in which NBA team can be found Ray Allen ?
and do you need to upgrade his status to "gold" or can be done with bronze level of the player too ?

I used John Stockton for this. It didn't register as a 5 point shot. Anyone with a 3PT rating of 9 should be able to pull this off. And the player can be bronze level.

RoboTicS83, Ray Allen will be on the Milwaukee Bucks if you've unlocked him. Like SlipKnoT 008 said, you can do this with any player with a 9 rating for 3pt shooting. I got it with Dirk Nowitzki. I still had Dirk at bronze level when I did it. A player's level has no effect on his ability to make the shot. Like SlipKnoT 008, I did not get it with a 5 point shot.

Im Not sure, but i dont get it. I Made more than one backcourt shot allready. 1 with gasol, not using lp. And the challenge in the tournament is also Done without the Lottery picks, but didnt get this stupid achievement. Maybe its Broken 😧😢
If I remember right, My First backcourt shot was with penny hardaway, but it was with Lottery pick used.
Maybe because of this it doesnt work.

Anyone an idea or solution?
Or Same Problem?

I did it with Otto Porter (8) without a perfect shot. I found it easier to run right across half court and do a fadeaway. Eliminated the jumping forward across the line problem.

Did mine with Paul George you need to just shoot from behind the half... I shot mine from damn close to the opponents rim just for fun hit a perfect shot and you get 1 extra point UNLESS it's the first point of the game making it a 5 point shot... just change that in the guide.

For those this isn't unlocking for - I nailed the backcourt shot in exhibition without a lottery pick probably two dozen times without getting it to work. The first one I nailed in tournament mode unlocked at the end of the game.

Food for thought if exhibition isn't working for you.

Got it second attempt in exhibition. Don't recall who I was using, someone with a 3 point ability of 9. I made the shot from under the opposing team's basket. When I tried a fadeaway from behind half court the first time it didn't work.

Also, don't forget, as the guide says - the achievement will NOT unlock until you finish the game. It won't unlock as soon as the shot it made.

I made it with Dennis Schroder of the Atlanta Hawks on my 1st exhibition game. He was bronze level with a 9 in 3pt shooting.

Has anyone earned this recently? I have earned every other achievement in the game, and this is the last one I need, but I think it may be bugged for me.

I've tried all sorts of things - everything listed in the solutions, and all of the comments, but none of them has worked. Different players, exhibition, tournament, tutorial, from multiple spots, multiple difficulties. I've even deleted my save data and started a new one, but still can't get it to unlock.

I’ve tried this probably three dozen times, and just now got it to unlock. Exhibition game with 10 point limit on Rookie, and second controller. I used Chris Mullin, and hit from just behind backcourt with a fade-away (which happened to be a “perfect” shot), one from my free throw line, and one from under my basket.

I don’t know what finally triggered it, because I tried this setup five or so times before it worked. The game before it, I used a lottery pick once with Mullin from the backcourt, and then just hit twos to end the game. So that may be something to consider.

I made the backcourt shot with Chris Mullin and the achievement didn't pop so I played another game made another backcourt shot then it registered and I got the achievement. For a moment I thought the achievement was broken.

Finally i Got it.

Try again in exhibition mode with penny hardaway.
With him i done it First with a Lottery pick, without getting the achievement, sure. maybe this Broke the chievo.
After several Tries with other Players, shot Made, chievo dont Pop, i Try My first Player ist did with.

Played exhibition with 2nd Controller up to score 10, didnt 3 from behind the line. One from under My own Board, one from near the 3pt line and the last short behind the half Court circle.

Hope it helps someone.

Now i miss this annoying and stupid 15 steals challenge, hate it...😧😞😠😡

Keep playing, have fun. 😆

I didn't have anyone with a 9 rated 3pt shot, so I used Otto Porter and Trey Burke from Washington who are both rated 8 from deep. I used 2 idle controllers for the opponents and a 10 minute match. What I did was ran straight across the half court line from the opponent's side and initiated a fadeaway shot. This eliminated the jumping across the line problem in the other solution. Took about 20 tries. I was able to repeat the shot multiple times in that 10 minute span. Two of the shots were perfect and the other two counted as regular 3 pointers. Make sure to move the opponents off to the side and your other man will make the rebound every time.

So it IS attainable without a 9 rated 3pt shooter or a perfect shot.

Find a player with a good 3-pointer rank (a good player for this is Kyle Korver from the Cleveland Cavaliers). Make sure your player is behind the halfway line, with no lottery pick active, and shoot. This could take a couple of tries. If you’re going for all the challenges you will need to do this in London and Las Vegas.
