How to unlock the Dual Threat Coach achievement in NCAA Football 12 - Definitive Guide

This is the way I was able to get this achievement.

First I started a dynasty and selected Oklahoma as my team.
IMPORTANT, I also set the difficulty to Freshman and the recruiting difficulty to freshman

As you progress through the beginning of your dynasty mode it will ask you to set up your recruiting board. When you select that it gives you the option of create prospect. I then created 9 prospects with a 5 star rating. This is the positions I created:
QB
HB
TE
WR
LE
RE
CB
MLB
LG
You will want to make all of their home states OKLAHOMA
City does not matter

Now press LT one time to get to the attributes.

It helps to know about the positions and what their primary purpose is. (a QB does not need to be good at coverage or blocking and a LE does not need to be good at throwing or catching) But if you dont you can just max all of the attributes to 99

Now that you have 9 different positions created you will move forward to START SEASON.

Now you may want to turn AUTOSAVE off at this point just in case.

Once I started the season I simmed until the conference championship game. I was able to go 12-0 and then it stated that all 9 of the players committed to Oklahoma. The next highest class had 3 5 star recruits. I then simmed to the bowl game and set the quarter length to 1 MIN. I played the game and won. From here I just simmed to the end of the season and the achievement popped along with the best recruiting class.

TIP: Don't accept the contract extension, that's the key detail that's missing
Posted by Bobtroid Thank you!

This is exactly how I did this so I hope it works as well for you. If anyone has any questions please send me a message I will try to help. If anyone has anything negative to say please let me know before voting negative.

Also to point out Must go into off season recruiting week 5 for it to pop Thanks Hunter!

It seems a bit wonky...I did something very similar (6 created players) using OK, and got the best class achv but not this one. I went 13-0 (won the bcs) and hadn't messed with anything else. Luckily I made back up saves, so hopefully my 2nd attempt will fare better.

When you get to the end of the season are you ranked #1 or #2 and going to the BCS Championship game and winning? Also when you get to signing day are you the #1 recruiting class? If both of these are true when you sim to the end of the offseason and start the next season the achievements will pop.

yeah, I think it might be a glitch in the game?

1st time = I had six 5 stars, eleven 4 stars and four 3 star recruits
2nd time = nine 5 stars, seven 4 stars and six 3 stars
3rd time = six 5 stars, twelve 4 stars and four 3 stars

and I won the BCS title all the years, still no cheevo.

It might be worth mentioning that if people use a created coach and set his alma mater as Oklahoma they can unlock: Hometown Hero, Living Legend, and Dream Job.

I tried to do it with Oregon to get the "Head of the PAC" achievement as well. I did the contract extension, had the #1 recruitment class and never got the achievement past signing day. So there is definitely a glitch.

This worked perfectly, and I can confirm that you DO NOT need to actually play the championship game. I Simmed every single game including the Champ. Just make sure you save before each sim so you can re load if you didn't win for whatever reason. (my championship ended up being Ok Vs. Boise St.) at the end of the bowl season before recruiting season starts you may be prompted with a contract extension. you can "look" at it but DO NOT sign it simply press 'B' to back out and go to "Advance to.." whatever the next area is a sim though recruiting week 5 and it will pop after recruiting week 5 is complete (i.e. you actually have to sim to the event right after recruiting week 5)

good for 2 achievements worth 175 (also gets "best in class" if you don't have that one already)

I can confirm that signing the extension does bug this achievement. I won the national championship and the "Best Class Ever" popped, but not this one.

i didn't stimulate the season but i still managed to get the best recruiting class. however i did NOT get this achievement. i went all through the off season and i'm now in the next season and i got nothing. i did won the championship and i did not get a conrtact extension to sign so that's not the reason. anyone have a clue as to why this might happen?

I did all of this and simmed to week 5 with no luck you have to sim to signing day in off season. thanks tho. This method should work on Ncaa football 11. Here is to hoping. thumbs up!

Also worth noting you can change teams by going into coach info and if the team with the #1 class before bowl season is highly ranked, you can tank the other teams, get into the NC game, win the NC game, and sim to the 5th week of recruiting in the offseason and get it. so whatever team you start out with doesnt have to be the one you end with. make sure however to change the coach to the team you had previously to controlled by CPU

I just had the achievement glitch on me after signing the contract extension. Didn't think anything of it and needed the achievement for it so I signed it. Then only Best Class Ever popped at Signing Day. I went back and loaded the save I had made right after winning the national championship and signing the contract extension and simmed to Signing Day again and it popped. So if it glitches on you, try loading a previous save and simming the offseason again before giving up and starting over.

You sim past week 5 and it pops AFTER SIGNING DAY, not Week 5.

well not specific to this achievement but I have run into glitched achievements in this game. I just played througha dynasty in big 10 with BYU. I won the big 10 champ game and the BCS title and neither of the achvs popped.

I think you might want to clarify that you need get through all 5 weeks of offseason recruiting, and not simply sim to the end of bowl season. Neither this cheevo nor the one for the #1 Recruiting Class popped for me at the end of bowl season, but both popped as soon as I got through the 5 offseason recruiting weeks.

Also -- not sure what everyone means about the contract extension. I did this with the Sooners, and at the end of the season I was heading into year 2 of a 3 year contract -- so I was never asked about an extension. Maybe not accepting the extension is a tip for people who are playing through the second/third year in the same dynasty, because they didn't unlock the cheevo the first time through?

Anyway, besides that first point, great guide. +1.

I picked Oklahoma, played every game, and did all recruiting manual. DO NOT accept the contract extension at the end of the year. The other achievements were popping, like Hometown Hero and Best Class ever, but not Dual Threat, until I reloaded the save, didn't do the contract extension, simmed the offseason recruiting (I was already number 1) and the achievement popped on signing day. I ended up with seven 5 stars and nine 4 star recruits. Hope this helps.

You don't need to cheat. I played as Alabama, and got this without having to alter any recruits.

I tried to get this achievement several times. I ended up using the above method except I made sure to TURN COACH CONTRACTS OFF so that I wouldn't have any trouble with the contract extension nonsense. You are able to change coach contracts on and off at the coach creation screen, which is the very first screen you will see at the beginning of a new dynasty.

See step 3 in the Road Map for the fastest way to obtain this trophy.

Here you will need to win the championship and have the #1 recruiting class in the same season. If you follow step three in the road map, you'll have no problems getting this and Best Class Ever.

Here are some recruiting tips for each week. The first five to six weeks, you're going to want to do the recruiting yourself but only for the guys you created.

Week one: You're going to want to select the second option, what the player thinks about the topic at hand.
Week two: Select the first option, make a pitch for the topic on hand but only if the player has a high interest for it. If he doesn't, change the subject. If it's unknown, ask him what he think of the topic.
Week three: Same as week two.
Week four: Right now, you should be able to offer scholarships. If so, offer each of your created players a scholarship. This takes up one question. For the remainder of the phone call, follow step two.
Week five: Make a promise to the player. Once you've done that, follow step two.
Week six: Here you're going to want to offer a scholarship, schedule a visit (if the prospect is ready), or make promises. Each nets you at least +100 interest points.

After week six, all of your created prospects should have OU as their number one school. A couple of them might even commit before then.

When starting a dynasty season, make your coaches alma mater the school that you are going to use and select that school to play as (for example, If you want to use the Gators, select your alma mater and team for University of Florida). This will unlock Dream Job. Before you start up your dynasty, you can create recruits for the season. Simply create about 12 recruits (different positions) with maxed out stats from the same city your schools in (use a 6 star school as it will be easier to win recruits and get to the national championship). You can also create one recruit with low stats from your state to go for Point Some Fingers. During the season, make sure to call them and spend time talking to them and go undefeated to win the national championship. Most of the recruit should sign with you. If you can sign at least 10 five star recruits, you will be good. If you followed this guide, you will get the Dual Threat Coach, Living Legend, Hometown Hero, and Best Class Ever achievements.
