How to unlock the Legendary Gang achievement in Necromunda: Underhive Wars - Definitive Guide

It takes 3500XP to reach level X.

You can hire Champion Gangers with 2300 XP (with full skills these should start at, just, level IX) directly for 2500 credits (less with influence and training grounds discounts) which speeds this up considerably.

If you loot all high value weapons and return from most operations with 7/7 items on all your gangers (you need not worry much about recovery items really given how poor the AI is) funds will be a non-issue fairly early on. Later when you you can also take the influence bonuses at the start of an operation for cheaper fighter hires and more credits at the shop, combine with the medical bay and then hire leaders / fire them and sell their equipment for more that the hiring cost, thus gives you unlimited funds.

After each mission get into the habit of going to the recruitment tab, selecting Champion ganger and check each roster position, hire any with no injuries. This is not strictly required (you can hire them with injuries, especially those that do not impact their role) but you will be completing so many missions and so rarely change our your gangers that you may as well wait for those with no injuries (this is randomised).

Simply slot these gangers in from reserve as each of your others hits level X.

The short way to achieve this is to purchase the 5 level 5 neuro inhibitors at the start of an operation operation for 30 Infamy, you can do this multiple times and they yield 900 XP each, you'll be level X with a couple of these or sometimes one decent deadly mission if they get MVP. (900 XP Boost, 150 survive, 150 MVP = XP + Downed fighters can hit 1400 in one mission if they down 4+). This is also a useful way to get a new ganer straight to level X if one is injuried or to 'farm' gangers for better perks.

As you'll be playing so many operations anyway this isn't strictly needed, the long way with standard play is to ensure you pick the clever trait and max the intelligence first, play on the highest setting you can manage and down all / most enemies each mission. Also make sure to max out 10 skills to level 3 as these eventually become cheaper than stat upgrades and so easier to level up your ganger. Always select the mission with the lowest amount of salvage on offer as there is a grater chance you will be the only gang fighting over it and get an instant win / XP. On deadly missions you'll typically be earning 300-500XP per mission.

Another important point is not to quit and reload any missions and always finish your sessions on the operations screen rather than leaving part way through a mission. If you quit and reload you only get 10 XP for survival and downed fighter bonuses whereas if you complete it in one session you get the full XP. Survival bonuses are one of the main sources of XP so this will have a significant impact.
