I can confirm on this one that restarting the race doesn't mean you fail the race.
I restarted the final one after the AI slammed me into the barier and the achievement still popped wink

The description says it all here, win 3 events in a row. It doesn't matter what type of events. Note that some events (story related) do not require you to win, only participate, so you will continue past the mission even if you don't win, thus not counting for the trophy.

If your having trouble with this one, do 3 events labelled as "easy".

Simply win any three events without losing. If you're wanting to unlock this achievement early in the game, the drift and time trial events will prove easiest to win without an upgraded car.
