How to unlock the Drift, Drift, Drift achievement in Need for Speed Heat - Definitive Guide

Hi everyone,
This is my version or set up for the Drift, Drift, Drift guide... Like many other TA members I have tried the above guides for this achievement and they have kept failing... As the car wouldn't maintain a good drift for me... Like others have said in the comments you don't need to 3 star to gain the achievement for this... But it helps towards the brightest star achievement

I'm now on the road to getting all of them 3 stars with my own setup below...

The car you will need and amount needed is all here... So here goes...

:::: THE CAR ::::
Mazda RX7 (301) 59,500$
Power - 3.2
High Speed - 3.5
Acceleration - 6.3
Nitrous - 8.0 or 10.0 (doesn't matter)

:::: ENGINE ::::
Elite+ Crankshaft
Elite+ ECU
Ultimate Cooling**
Elite+ Exhaust
Elite Dual Turbo Charger
Ultimate Nitrous**

:::: CHASSIS ::::
Super Speedcross Suspension
Elite Brakes
Elite Drag Tires (yeah you read correctly)

:::: DRIVE TRAIN ::::
Elite+ Clutch
Super 5 Speed Gearbox
Pro Drift Differential

::: OVERALL COST ::::
301,000$ (including car)

**If you don't own any Ultimate parts then add Elite+ which could lower performance but still get same results

Now I'm not saying these parts will work for your driving style, but it's working for me, also you may or may not hit 3 stars on your first attempt, but this will hold its drift as its what's needed!!

If this has helped you, please comment and give a thumbs up, if some of the parts have helped you but you had to swap a few others please feel free to add the parts you swapped in the comments section for other members to try them out...

I'm not always on TA so I may not reply as quickly as other members but when I do come on I can gladly help

Thanks
Dryden

Here is my build for 3 stars in almost 1 attempt for each zone

Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport (I had the deluxe edition so I had the K.S model but it doesn't matter in my test)

Engine: 827 hp 8.4l V10
Super+ Crankshaft, ECU, Cooling, Exhaust
Elite Dual Turbo Charger
Elite 4x3lb Tanks (though I never used NoS)
Super Speedcross Suspension
Elite Brakes
Elite Drag Tires
Elite+ Clutch
Elite 7 Speed
Pro Drift Differential

Thing was sliding like a beast, I had to put downforce at the second lowest in order to get a little bit more control but this build allowed for max drift but also the ability to handle offroad as well

Seems like a decent set up, will have to give this a go when my nephew returns the game

Thanks DJB Hustlin

Yeah, the thing that really helps with this is being able to use Gas for the long corners and combine it with handbrake drifting for sharp cuts on the straight to keep the multiplier from dropping

So good! I struggled with full drift builds but this actually allows you to adjust your drift without ending it

I don't much like drifting in any game but this setup made knocking all of these off a doddle, the only one in the entire game i needed a few cracks at was the one in Port Murphy between the heaps of coal. Thumbs up from me

Works perfectly, thanks for posting. Not sure why the nitrous is needed though, I find it much more controllable without touching it. Pretty much nail every drift zone first time with this set up and I’m no expert at it, at least not until now!

No you shouldn’t need to change the tyres, just keep trying and it will come eventually… if it doesn’t work in one direction turn round and go the other way

Are you serious... This is a car set up to help you with the drift zones... The locations are all over your map...

The previous 50 people who have up voted this solution haven't complained about locations...

But if you negative vote then its your choice...
0

By N30YRD on 08 Feb 2021 19:46
i don't have downvoted your guide but Concerning the locations the drifts ( like the others activities & collectables ) don't appear until than you are very close or if you take part .

( For this achievement you don't need to have 3 stars only finish 1 time ( 1 to 3 stars ) )

But i recognize than your solution is very good, i had around 11 - 14 drifts where i were stuck and with your guide i did these during the first try except for 1 or 2 . with your guide it's very easy even if we do some mistakes we can obtain the 3 stars easily thanks to you .

Thanks

Just a suggestion rather than a guide.

The Mitsubishi Exo X 2008 with with the standard drift spec Tyres, Suspension and Diff with as much power as you can get is amazingly easy to drift especially for beginners.

I engine swapped to the 3.8L Flat 6 and had around 900-950BHP and everything worked flawlessly.

(I Tried the GT86 and failed horribly)

Worked like a charm. I haven't gone through and 3 stared them all yet. But this car makes them way easier than any other "drift" car I built.

This suggestion didn't work for me, and I wasted a couple of hours trying this method, I tried the Mitsy and its crap for drifting and you DON'T use drifting gear.

I'm crap at drifting but in the RX-7 rear wheel drive with speedcross parts (that's the key) I was in some cases doubling the score needed for 3 stars, and nearly 3 starred all events first go.

You meant speedcross right?

By FrostGhilidon on 02 Jan 2020 21:46
@frost yeah I meant speedcross, and if you upgrade the RX-7's engine a little bit works wonders.

The Speedcross Rx7 works like a charm I was severely struggling with a 240 set up for drifting, but with the Rx7 I've 3 starred everything I've tried on the 1st go.

Simply getting 1 star on every drift zone will land you the trophy. This also applies to speed zones and long jumps. The 3 star stuff is related to a harder trophy.

A very good option is the SRT Viper. the car was pumped to maximum drift, tires for drag. I went through all the drift zones on it

good handling version of the Nissan GTR 93
the car drags itself into turns, all that remains is to steer, if you want more points in long turns, use the analogue steering wheel on the joystick to the right to the left, this gives you more time in drifting
On the straights, immediately press the handbrake on the gas and the car drags into a drift
for spare parts everything is very simple and cheap, we put the elite in there with the maximum engine, a roots supercharger in the turbine, green brakes, everything possible is maximum for shows, except for these max tires for drifting

SRT Viper almost everything the first time

• Display hanging
• Drag tires
• Differential for impressions

I completed the drift zones with the following cars and settings:

1) Car "Ford Mustang 65"

Settings:
  • Suspension - Drift
  • Tires - Off-Road
  • Differential - Impressions

2) Car "BMW X6"

Settings:
  • Pendant - Shows
  • Tires - Off-Road
  • Differential - Impressions

These settings are not ideal, but they helped me. Then, with the same settings, I helped a SharePlay friend go through all the drift zones in 9 hours.

Let me mention that I did 90% of drifts in my first car , a Ford Mustang 65.

It is also worth noting that for a successful drift, settings alone are not enough - you yourself need to understand how to drift and hold it for as long as possible. As soon as you seize the moment and figure out the trick, everything will start to work out.

Completed all drift zones in a Nissan 350Z Z33 LE '03 (which can be obtained by completing all drift racing missions in "Tight Curves"). All zones can be navigated on it quite easily, with the following installed spare parts:
Engine: it is advisable to install one for which you can buy “Super+” spare parts (I used the 3rd one, but it can be better), the turbo was installed with a “roots supercharger” (it could be better), nitro preferably 3 or > tanks.
Chassis: Speedcross Super suspension, Super brakes, Drag Super tires.
Transmission: Super+ clutch, gearbox 5 Super, differential for Speedcross Super.
Extra: active - nitro replenishment, passive - nitro drift.
The tactics are simple:
At long distances, keep the multiplier and crash less into oncoming cars; it’s better to go solo, because It feels like there is less traffic there.
For short distances such as “Package in a Box (Port Murphy)” and “King of Parking (Downtown Palm City)” we use nitro when entering a skid on turns (3 tanks should be just enough).

My personal top pick is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, it has great power balance and is very controlled when drifting.
A cheaper and slower option, but also perfectly controlled, is the Mazda RX-7.

You can try other options, all to your taste.

In order for this whole thing to go sideways as it should, we pump the car to the maximum, but install the following parts:
• Display hanging
• Stock brakes (so that when braking the car does not suddenly straighten out)
• Drag tires (no joke)
• Differential for impressions

When tuning on the go, set the steering sensitivity to maximum and downforce to minimum. Drift style, brake or gas - whichever is more convenient.

Ideally, this whole thing is controlled by a manual transmission, but here, too, everything is purely for convenience)
