How to unlock the Sad Eggs achievement in Neon Abyss - Definitive Guide
Once you unlock Ming is when you should go for this. Unlike the one for hatching eggs this one can be forced and not random.
Ming has an ability to press B to stop an egg from hatching, here's the best thing about this, failed eggs auto hatch, so all you have to do is press B to cancel the actual egg from hatching and the others will fail automatically.

Posting updated guide for sad eggs achievement:
Using Ming I cancelled all egg hatches till I had a decent supply (I probably had about 20 before going for achievement). I must have had an item or maybe at a certain point in the game I noticed every time you jump with ming and land, his ability shows you what will hatch next. Just jump / land so that an empty egg is next to hatch and when you clear a room of all enemies the empty egg should pop. If you have to jump to avoid enemies then don't kill the last one until you set the next hatch to be an empty egg.
Do not use the cancel hatch ability anymore, instead just make sure you cycle the next egg to be an empty one 5 times and achievement will pop.
Just need confirmation on what item or ability was causing the eggs to cycle what the next egg was going to hatch into

Update 1.4.6 - Owl Headdress way
Character: Ming
Item: Owl Headdress
Use Character Ming. Not only can Ming interrupt hatching, but Ming can also view the next upcoming hatch.
This works great with Owl Headdress, as simply jumping will shuffle the next egg outcome.
Defeat all but one monster in a room, jump until your next hatch is a dud and then kill said monster. Bingo bongo, you've just finished a failed hatch. Repeat 5 times for the achievement
(Important Note! Cancelling hatching will reset your achievement counter, so you might wanna avoid that unless you have the wrong hatch coming up)

After obtaining an egg and then clearing a set number of combat rooms with it, it'll eventually hatch. Based completely off RNG, the egg will either produce a little pet that'll assist you in a some way during each room, or it'll fail and you'll get nothing. As you may surmise from these two achievements, they can rely entirely on RNG, hoping that you get five of each possibility in a row. This is completely plausible to happen throughout your time with this game and working on all other achievements. In fact, it is how I got both achievements. However, there are ways to improve odds or guarantee both achievements.
For hatching 5 in a row successfully, you can play as Ming, the final character you'll be able to unlock. Ming has a passive ability that all eggs have an increased chance to hatch successfully, which increases the likelihood of unlocking this achievement. To guarantee this achievement, be lucky enough to find the Marshmallow item. This makes all eggs hatch successfully as long as your hearts are full. If playing on Easy, this is pretty easy to maintain to ensure all your eggs hatch successfully. If you mess up, you can always use the Save Reload Exploit to try again.
To guarantee the 5 failed hatches in a row, again use Ming. He has the ability to press when an egg is hatching to cancel its hatch. Use this to ensure you fail five in a row.
