I found this easiest on Transcendent +1 or Hunter. To unlock these modes, you must have cleared the game with the character you want to play. You must have a build you are comfortable with that doesn't require a lot of resources. Target missions with Gold rewards, and if you can start with a gold bonus. Additionally, get those skill rewards when available as they'll save you some gold.
Try to precision as often as possible, but don't try too hard. It's better to get the overkill if it would take away your precious health.
For myself, I chose Faith/Punishment Claire with Wings. I avoided buying anything that didn't contribute to Faith generation. I played slow and kept health full until an opening and then smacked them with combo'd God's Answers.
I've also accomplished this with a Griffon Helena (without Wings), and a Radiation Naya (with Wings). For Griffon Helena, it's all defense, command and guardian ability until you're huge. Then swap to Lion for the kill. For Radiation Naya, use multi-hits for the wings, and defense to keep yourself steady while they melt.
