How to unlock the Capture Vanguard achievement in Neverwinter - Definitive Guide

This achievement requires to capture 500 points in PvP matches of Domination or Gauntlgrym only (Icewind Dale DOES NOT COUNT). Remember that you have to be on the platform when the point is captured (you will see a white message "+300 captured point"). The points captured by your team without your contribution (i.e. without the white message) won't count for the achievement.
It is retroactive, therefore if you played some games of PvP before, the captures you did will count (this statement implies that you can have your achievement popped directly after the update, if you are a PvP player).
To check your progress (Xbox Live won't show it), you have to:
1) open the "Journal"
2) go in the section "Achievements"
3) go down until you find "PvP" (PvP only, not the other types like "PvP Domination" etc.)
4) press X until you see the "Available" achievement list
5) scroll down until you find "Capture Vanguard"

NOTE: Private PvP does not count for this achievement.

Just to be clear this is for capturing nodes 500 times and not to do with the actual "points" earned for capturing correct?

Yes, regret. If you played pvp a lot, for sure you should have captured 500 points and won 50 games.

I haven't considered doing those 2 pvp achievements until recently since Port Nyanzaru is now in the pool for random dungeons. So, as a DC, how can I get this achievement done? I heard it can be boosted in public queue (I suppose with 2*5 people) but how to proceed exactly to be efficient? I've never played PvP, I don't even know if there are requirements to enter those queues...

pvp gameplay is rather different compared to pve. I suggest to start playing randomly joining pvp queue (Domination). As a dc, focus on surviving and capturing flags. I've never read people boosting on domination. I've seen boosting on Stronghold pvp only...

^^ How many capture points did you get in one game, and how long did the game last?

I have not tried it yet, but speaking to someone who had last night said its quicker to simply rotate between 2 points back and forth, or simply pile everyone around one point for the capture. He said a single match takes about 40 minutes and they earned 70+ captures. I would expect to see roughly 300 captures in a 3 hour session that way. I should finish my wins chievo tonight, and then will probably post a session for these captures.

Are these any easier with the PvP changes that have happened?

For sure, Icewind Dale cannot chosen anymore to unlock these achievements. Easier or not, always depends on you equipment. With high item level, everything is smoother ;)

So, are they easier or not because of the PvP changes that have happened?

Easier or not, is hard to define. First of all it's up to. That means, if you are high in IL (25k+), it'll be smoother. Then, it depends on your class and on the people which are actually playing PvP. I highly recommend Solo Queue to avoid premade parties.
I personally tested the new PvP system as soon as it was released. During those days, most of the players were testing it, so it was harder to find veterans. Now, who knows. I think that basically it's like before.
The most impactful changes are the ones related to the classes, the level 80 and the abilities.

toast Bummer, I was hoping there was some faster method now...

Not retroactive for me. Loaded this game up after 3 years and I got the 50wins to pop but my journal shows me at 3k PvP kills, 157 wins, and 0 capture points, which is blatantly wrong. All I did was play domination and the game is saying I never capped a point, ever.

These two PvP achievements are outrageously stupid... it is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS BEING STUNNED FOR THE ENTIRE TIME WHILE GETTING KILLED. Can't do anything about it. Just get stunned, get killed, respawn, get stunned, get killed, etc etc etc.
It's so vomit worthy that I quit after playing one game.

I know Shadow. Like you, I'm a full pve player. For a dps, PvP is focused on control abilities (both resistance and duration). Moreover, the defense/penetration are much higher (you need around 100-120% of penetration to do some decent damage to the heavy armored tanks).
I don't know which class you use, but what I can suggest is the following:
- focus on control ability of your class
- choose skills that can be cast quickly
- stay with your team
- focus first on enemy dps, they are the easiest to be killed
- run/evade/dodge as much as possible
- if you see enemies with Feytouched/Negation/Lion they are full pvp, run away from them
- focus on capturing the points, you don't need to kill to win
- choose solo domination, it's much easier cause the squads are random and you won't find premade party (and you will also find many other pve players like you)
- try to split the enemy team (even a full pvp enemy team will usually die in 2vs4)
- if you got it, use the Lantern of Revelation on TR and HR rushing alone to you if you are with your team so that you can kill them
- go on doing solo domination and icewind dale, you will win sooner or later

I suggest a boosting session for this. Get 9-10 people for the session. Sometimes if too many randoms are queued for this, once the first full group queues, it locks them with a bunch of singles, and your 2 full groups dont get placed together. If that happens, you will need to have 1 group full with 5, and the second group only with 4 people. This will almost always pair your 2 groups together and throw a random in.
Strategy for this is to have group A run to ring 1 and cap it, while Group B runs to ring 3 and caps it. Once group A has the cap, move to ring 2, then ring 3. Once group B has capped ring 3, run to ring 1, then 2 and so on. Always be moving and alternating caps. The games will last a decent amount of time and people should get a good amount of caps per game. If you have 1 random in the game, they will occasionally mess up a cap, but should easily be killed since the group of 5 will always be moving together.

This again, will take some considerable time to capture 500 points. You must play Domination (5 v 5) or Gauntlgrym (10 v 10) game types. Simply capture the A, B, or C nodes that an enemy team has control of for it to count.

I completed these tasks a long time ago, but when I recently entered the game, I received these trophies. Perhaps it's an update issue. You can get into PvP the same way as into a dungeon by queuing. The easiest way is in "Domination". There are 3 points on the map that need to be captured while in their zone with a numerical superiority. At the moment there is difficulty for beginners after level 70, since not many people play, and those who play usually play as a team and with maximum leveling. Therefore, I advise you to complete this task starting from level 20. Or earlier, I don’t remember at what level you can start.

I would like to add that PvP events do not count, as well as PvP battles in the Dwarf Valley and Icewind Pass
