How to unlock the Four Dead Dragons! achievement in Neverwinter - Definitive Guide
Rules:
1. Once starting the event, you'll have one minute to 'stage' before the dragons arrive.
2. Once the dragons arrive, you have 10 minutes to kill them. However, you can get almost 11 minutes, because after the first dragon dies the 10-minute timer disappears and a one-minute timer begins to kill the other 3 before they flee. So if you kill the first dragon at 9 minutes 59 seconds, you'd have another minute, bringing the total time to 10 minutes 59 seconds theoretically.
3. If more than 20 people are near any given dragon at the same time, that dragon becomes immune to damage. This is why you form two primary groups, one for north and one for south dragons.
4. You can see all four dragons' hitpoints as a % in the top-right side of the screen. This is important, and all players should be aware of this and be keeping an eye on it, especially after the two larger teams break away from NW and SW to head to NE and SE (see strategy below).
Strategy:
1. You'll want 30ish people at a minimum for two groups of 15, but the more better unless your active players are super OP. Form up at the keep and set up two primary teams. The best way to do this is to have everyone meet at the large rock in the middle, and two people are designated as 'team captains'. These two then proceed to call out names and when your name is called you move to them.
2. They should focus on dividing the support classes like Clerics (haste especially) and Oathbound Paladins evenly between north and south teams. Once that's done, they divide the DPS classes evenly as well. It helps if the team captains try to divvy up people based on their item level so that it isn't too lop-sided where north or south has massively more DPS than the other. If you have an uneven number of paladins or clerics, send the extra one to north team as the NE dragon is the strongest.
3. Once groups are set, the two large teams head to Northwest and Southwest dragon spawns. One person should have an alternate character at the keep so they can log that character in to start the event then switch back to their main.
4. When the teams arrive at the NW and SW dragon spawns, get everyone in groups so group buffs can be used.
5. Designate two to three really good players with solid DPS at each of the two large groups to be the 'cleanup crew'. The will be staying behind once the larger groups break off to clean up the NW and SW dragons.
6. Once ready, have the designated starter switch characters to their alt, start the event at the keep, then switch back.
7. During the dragon fights, keep an eye out for Dragon Empowerers. These guys spawn and buff the dragon, so you want to take them out ASAP when they spawn.
8. Damage the NW and SW dragons down to around 10% or a little less, then the larger groups break off and head to NE and SE dragons respectively. The cleanup crews, once again, stay behind. Their job is to keep the NW and SW dragons engaged and whittle their HP down to 1% while the other two dragons are being fought.
9. The large groups should by this point be at NE and SE dragon spawns. They proceed to DPS both of them down. Whichever one is damaging theirs faster should slow down/stop if they get it to less than 5% to let the other team catch up.
10. One of the two larger teams should be designated as 'first kill'. My guild usually has the North team be first kill, so the larger group finishes off the Northeast dragon, starting the 1-minute countdown before the other 3 flee. Ideally, all three of the others will be down to 1-2% anyway and it should be very easy to finish them off long before the one-minute timer expires.
Congratulations! I'm working on getting a video up for this soon. I have one on twitch but it was a rather poor run and I'd rather show what a more optimal run looks like so I'm not 'teaching bad habits'.
here's a quick down and dirty that I pulled off my twitch. I run through the basic strategy verbally, but my game lags out really bad and I miss nearly all of the first dragon fight in my corner. There are 3 successful completions in the video IIRC, but they're messy. Our first two runs that I wasn't recording were much better.
We did four separate dragons flights straight after each other at the guild hall. Just killing one dragon at a time.
**Requires Guild** This is easily the most difficult achievement of the expansion. Smaller guilds will struggle with this; you will need to recruit and have 25-35 strong members to achieve this.
There are two ways to trigger the dragon heroic event in your Stronghold. First, you can wait for "The Traveling Wizard" event to become active; a guild member can speak with the Wizard and the encounter will begin. Second, if you have a 'Golden Bell', which can be purchased with Zen, you can start the encounter at any time.
This isn't a typical dragon fight as each dragon is accompanied by 'Dragon Empowerers' that buff the dragon; they appear every 10-15%. Take these guys out first to weaken the dragon; or the dragon will becomes stronger as the fight progresses. Otherwise the dragon attacks (breath, wing, strike) are very standard and should not present any surprises to a seasoned guild.
Once the event is triggered, you'll have 1 minute to stage before the dragons land; so your groups should be in place before the event is actually triggered, then final buffs just before they land. Once they hit the ground you only have 10 minutes to kill all four dragons. And then there's the tricky part; you have to kill all 4 dragons within a minute of each other. If your team is nearing the time limit, you can kill 1 dragon with 10 seconds left on the clock (as an example) and earn a 'bonus minute' to kill the remaining 3 dragons before they flee.
Having done this a few times now, I'm revising the strategy. The best strategy for completing this feat is having 4 separate groups of 5-10 people; generally 7 is enough. Having a bubble Paladin is extremely helpful so try to have one for each group. If you do not have a bubble Pally for a dragon, a Guardian Fighter with a Devoted Cleric will do. The rest can be DPS sprinkled in with some extra healing.
Once the event is triggered each group should whittle the dragons down as fast as they can. You'll see on the right side of the screen a quest description for the dragons with their health. It will deplete as damage is done.
Kill the 'Dragon Empowerers' as they spawn and then get back to dragon DPS. Get the dragons to about 3% and then stop. If a group is lagging behind, send a DPS character or two to that location to assist. Obviously only send people on the same side.. so either north or south.. sending someone from the south to the northeast quadrant will take far too long. If time is running short for one group, utilize the 'bonus minute' and kill a dragon to gain that extra minute. Otherwise, if you have all dragons to a low percentage with time to spare.. make the kill call and finish them off. Profit.
The dragons are:
Katatheo the Vain - Found in the Graveyard region in the northwest.
Chrysos the Proud - Found in the Dragon Hills region in the northeast.
Ekdos the Cruel - Found in the Devil's Hideaway region in the southwest.
Oxuno the Treacherous - Found in the Ancient's Lake region in the southeast.
Here is a "cleverly written guide" about the dragons.
There are 4 of them - red, blue, green and black.
You need to kill them at the same time, because when one is killed, that is, it takes 1 minute to finish off the rest, otherwise they will fly away.
Also, if the dragon is hit by more than 20 people, its immunity turns on and damage stops being dealt to it.
Red and blue dragons at the top of the card, black and green at the bottom.
- Red just hits with fire and is the simplest in general, the main thing is not to get into AoE.
- Blue is the most difficult. Firstly, everyone who goes to blue must recall their pets. The fact is that if someone dies on blue, then everyone else in the area is wiped, including if a companion dies. Therefore, under no circumstances should you go to the blue one with a companion.
- Green without healing is also extremely difficult, but with healing it is easier than red. All because of the poison that constantly ticks, plus poisonous AOEs. Ranges - magicians, locks, khanty - go to the green one, just like the next one. But more on that later
- Black simple, if no one dies. If someone dies, a ghost appears that chases nearby players and has an aura that kills very quickly. Unlike blue, you can leave pets here. But the warlocks should recall their dolls, because for some reason, when you kill a doll (as opposed to a pet), a ghost will appear.
Also, booster mobs regularly appear on all dragons, which are worth killing, as they stack the dragon and greatly strengthen it.
By the way, the rating on dragons is not entirely based on damage. You can not beat the dragon at all, and kill only the amplifiers and be at the top =)
How do we kill them (you must immediately understand that there are a maximum of 40 people on the map):
All ranges (locks, magicians, hunts) with a large number of heals all go to the green one.
Good mild psers go to blue.
Everyone else is on red.
It turns out something like this, there are about 14-17 people on the green
Blue 10-14
Red 8-10
At the start of the event.
At the beginning, we quickly (2-2.5 minutes) reach green to 3-4%, then about 3 people remain on green, the rest rush to black and finish it off to 3-4% of life. On green and black, it is ranges that are needed, since it is much more difficult for melee soldiers to deal damage there, and death on black is critical.
At this time, the red and blue teams beat their own.
In terms of time, it turns out that black and green have 3-5% left and there are still 4 minutes until the end of the event.
Then, also on black, you need to leave Tim for the final kill.
And then it looks where help is needed most - on red or blue. And a number of dpsers rush there.
And they finish it off. It is important not to forget that before blue you need to recall the pet - this is always a problem =)
