How to unlock the Proven Challenger achievement in Neverwinter - Definitive Guide

This achievement requires to win 50 PvP matches of any kind (Icewind Dale, Stronghold Siege, Domination, Gauntlgrym). For the specific case of Icewind Dale, the victory is recorded on your profile when the domination ends, without needing to complete the black ice harvesting.
It is retroactive, therefore if you played some PvP games before, the victories you collected will count (this statement implies that you can have your achievement popped directly after the update, if you are a PvP player).
To check your progress (Xbox Live won't show it), you have to:
1) open the "Journal"
2) go in the section "Achievements"
3) go down until you find "PvP" (PvP only, not the other types like "PvP Domination" etc.)
4) press X until you see the "Available" achievement list
5) scroll down until you find "Proven Challenger"

NOTE: Private PvP does not count for this achievement.

UPDATE: since the new upate, which revised all the PvP campaign and boons, Icewind Dale cannot be used any longer to obtain this achievement. Now, it has to be done in PvP queues.

I got 50 captures in 4 matches and only 1 win. This will be the annoying one.

Is it possible to 1v1 boost icewind pvp? if so can you explain how?

You don't need to do 1vs1 to win on Icewind. Both Icewind Pass and Dwarven Valley have 1 PvP area (red zone) in which, can spawn 1 Heroic Encounter. This type of game is an open PvP Domination.
Pratically speaking, everyone passing in the zone can join the fight. You have to capture and hold the 3 zones until the score reaches 1000, like a normal Domination match. You can do it also alone. Just remember that you need to choose a faction in Caer-Konig before entering. If you have friends who need to do the achievement too, I recommend that you all choose the same faction, therefore it will be easier for you to win, even though if someone from the opposite faction is entering the zone and attacking you.

Instead, for what concerns the general challenges of the PvP Campaing - Icewind: yes, you can boost kills, resurrections, assists, etc. I recommend to go with other 3 friends. In this way, you can boost the whole campaign, doing also the triple kills.
In this case, you can do that anytime, you won't need the presence of the event. To boost in this way, You all just need to enter the red PvP zone, becoming flagged for PvP. Then, the guy who's doing kills must have the opposite faction (for example: you need to do the triple kills. You choose Ten-Towns. Your 3 friends choose Arcane Brootherhood).

Is this account wide or per character? I got 13 wins on my TR about two years ago while at low level. I've since switched to a HR main. Will I need to get another 50 orjust the remaining 37?

It should be per character because the achievement should trigger when you will unlock the internal achievement on the journal

Question, has anyone tried having the losing team quit out if boosting it? Does that work?!

Yes, it works.

Ok, so... doesn't that mean it can go wayyyy faster than waiting for the match timer?

Yes, if you don't need to capture points... Personally, I finished the victory far before finishing the captures...

Ah, well, there was a session last Sunday where they just captured the points, then waited out the match timer doing nothing. LOL

Anyone doing this with icewind dale? Any rhyme or reason to when the PVP Events start??

Personally, I found it easier on Icewind Dale. Just enter one of the two maps, check if there is the encounter and complete it. It's unsual to find someone doing it. And also in this case, if you are high in gear score, you can easily get rid of him.

The April Fowls event counts! Everyone plays as a chicken and is on an equal playing field. Matches even go a little quicker. Win as a chicken!

FYI, I got this today with half of my wins coming from IWD, so I guess they've changed it once again.

@Xelliz, do you find a game easily?
I'm focusing right now in PVP matches.

@Cypher, Not really. The most active times are 2x Glory and April Fowls. Otherwise sitting in Q might never get a match. Though there are occasionally people who jump from zone to zone shouting in chat for people to Q solo dom. This is also a good time to Q up, as they likely have at least a few people already Qing.

Thanks @xelliz. Trying with current 2xglory without success for now.

I just did it in 2 days, there's definitely a lot of luck involved with the teams because you will either get completely destroyed or the match will go the full length with both teams neck n neck the whole way then you just have to hope your team gets ahead.

There is a lot of unbalanced shit, HR's with range builds 1 shotting you or rooting you endlessly until death, TR's are the most broken class ever, I've seen whole teams jump on a GF or OP and fail to kill it and all die, CWs and SWs with insane control effects, everyone is running invis rings and pvp gear with root chance and fey enchantments, it's truly ridiculous when you are a heavily pve oriented player, I personally just stuck with it and didn't alter my gear or build.

Best option is to be the person jumping zones and yelling about queue solo dom to make this happen - if you want to get this done ASAP. You being the dude yelling about it in zone chats for 10 mins during peak-ish hours is all it takes to start games. Or at least in my individual case that worked. Results may vary based on community activeness and etc.

Other than that April Fowls is by-far your best bet. The chicken silliness balances everything out to where the few people with super good PvP builds/the people who are all like "YASSSSS my 25 million AD pumped into a niche PvP build can finally shine yes Q solo dom idiots" aren't a roadblock - the randoms who aren't super endgame get turned off by the inevitable 0-20 K/D - need to keep replacing the people who try once and then refuse to requeue with more advertising.

Fun side bit, if you have a not-terrible build/are a tiny bit useful on top of becoming the PvP marketing guy regularly, present a good-faith attempt that shows you are trying your best to be competitive on top of just making games happen, there's a niche PvP community who are all also extraordinary at PvE that I found is very supportive. They'll almost love you by default for causing the thing they like to have happen happen, great way to make friends with extremely experienced players. Just reach out to the names you see regularly; personally causing things the best players want is a cheat code for skipping over building a long-time reputation and getting into one of the guilds that gets stuff done. Capitalize to tackle other challenging achievements where teamwork and friends are necessary, if you go the becoming the PvP town crier route.

I know guys. Like you, I'm a full pve player. For a dps, PvP is focused on control abilities (both resistance and duration). Moreover, the defense/penetration are much higher (you need around 100-120% of penetration to do some decent damage to the heavy armored tanks). I report here what I've already said in the other achievement guide.
I don't know which class you use, but what I can suggest is the following:
- focus on control ability of your class
- choose skills that can be cast quickly
- stay with your team
- focus first on enemy dps, they are the easiest to be killed
- run/evade/dodge as much as possible
- if you see enemies with Feytouched/Negation/Lion they are full pvp, run away from them
- focus on capturing the points, you don't need to kill to win (you can capture also if there are enemies on the flag, your team just need to have at least 1 player more than the enemy on the flag)
- choose solo domination, it's much easier cause the squads are random and you won't find premade party (and you will also find many other pve players like you)
- try to split the enemy team (even a full pvp enemy team will usually die in 2vs4)
- if you got it, use the Lantern of Revelation on TR and HR rushing alone to you if you are with your team so that you can kill them
- go on doing solo domination and icewind dale, you will win sooner or later

Grab some guildmates or attempt the solo queue for some old school Domination. You must win 50 matches; this will take numerous hours depending on skill and team make up.
