This is the final task in the final quest of the Shroud of Souls quest line.
This questline picks up from the Cloaked Ascendancy questline, and you must have completed 'Chapter 5: Ascendancy's End' in the Cloaked Ascendancy Campaign first. Chapter 5 unlocks when you have completed the 3 Confront Wizard tasks in the Cloaked Ascendancy Campaign Window.
The Shroud of Souls entire quest line can be completed in an afternoon if you have a high enough character; in fact probably far less than an hour if you have a very high level character and stay focused on the quest line.
I played it first with my 14k DC(old level was 4k) and found it overall fairly easy, with just a few challenging parts.
If you're much lower like 10k or less, you could well find it challenging in many parts.

The last mission for this is impossible. I've run it nearly a hundred times. You get killed instantly by creatures that appear out of nowhere behind you and you cant fight them.

MuscledTugBoat: the shadows might kill you the first time you encounter them, but when you come back you can handle them from a distance. alternatively, try building a Control Resist loadout.
However, as firehazardcs noted, the fight with Morlanth is still buggy. even when I try to chip away at her slowly and don't have a companion summoned, she just stands there after being reduced to 0hp, doesn't summon a dragon, doesn't die, and nothing ever happens.

During the final quest, "The Shard of Night," you must traverse a tower filled with Morlanth's followers and wraiths. Fight your way to the top where you'll face Morlanth herself. Dispatch her and her 'pet' and you'll recover the Shroud of Souls from the nearby chest. Once you have the shroud in hand, the final achievement will unlock.
