A short-handed goal is scored when one team has one (or two) fewer players on the ice since they committed a penalty.
Make sure your game difficulty is set to "Pro." Simply turn penalties all the way up and check (hit) the opposing team's goalie. This should draw a penalty very quickly. Once the penalty has been called, you can turn all the penalties off.
With one (or more) of your players in the penalty box, score a goal.
Edit: It seems that the achievement may not unlock immediately after scoring the goal. You may need to finish the game. In that case, set the time limit for each period to the minimum time allowed to speed things up.

Not gonna vote down (patch?) But I can not get it to pop. 1-0 game with a sh on pro...nothing.

Lmfao....poped after you leave the game entirely. So finish game and exit back to main menu. Vote up!

Easy as it sounds but if you're having troubles with this achivement, plug in a second controller, hit Y on you're 1st controller to slash and pull you're goalie with you're second controller.

In ice hockey, shorthanded refers to having fewer skaters on the ice during play, as a result of a penalty. Basically to get this achievement use two controllers and player 1 must slash player 2, therefore player 1 gets a penalty and will be at a disadvantage or "shorthanded". Just score whilst you are at the disadvantage for an easy achievement. If you are having trouble scoring past the goal keeper you may find it easier to remove the other teams goal keeper by selecting ‘pull home/away keeper’.
