using a second controller sign in as a guest and have your profile and guest on one team, and play against someone on ranked. Obviously this is easier if you have someone to use the second contoller otherwise play against a friend and get them to pull the goalie and let you score then play out the rest of the match.

I got it using this method. You may want to point out that the servers are scheduled to close soon. Like maybe add a disclaimer or something to your solution that EA is scheduled to turn off the online servers for this game on Feb 8th 2011.
So anyone wanting this achievement needs to hurry up and get it!

You COULD use the 2nd controller method, but you will probably lose...
Your best bet is to have your buddy actually play... just go to quick ranked match and have your buddy log in as a guest and join your team.
Win the game. All I can do is really give some general tips here on teamwork...
SET UP in the offensive zone, pass the puck A LOT and it will keep your opponent guessing. TALK to your teammate constantly and make sure you each know your role on the ice... It's no fun to bump into each other as the opponent blasts by both of you on a breakaway (Trust me, I know. lol)
Just talk to each other, set up your shots and once you do take a shot, CRASH THAT NET. If an opponent has a good goalie sometimes the only way to score on them is to push it in there....

This achievement can no longer be obtained due to the Recent Server closures of NHL 08. If you have yet to start this game, keep in mind the 1000 gamerscore is now out of reach.

Sign in a friend on your Xbox, then play a quick ranked match and try to win. OR sign in a second controller on your Xbox, then meet a friend in any lobby, challenge him, and then have him quit after the first few minutes to give you the win, then vice versa.
Note: This is now un-obtainable since the server for this game have been closed.
