How to unlock the Be A Pro Legend achievement in NHL 09 - Definitive Guide

This is a very time consuming achievement. The following requirements are needed:

- 150 games played with your created Be A Pro player
- An overall rating of A- with this same player
- Win at least 2 individual trophies (ex: Most goals in a season, Most points)

To get 150 games played, you can simulate 55 minutes of the game, then intervene with 5 minutes left. This will credit you with a game played, as well as A+ if you score a game-winning goal or empty net goal.

Try using no penalties, no line changes, and full shot power and accuracy (Unless your Be A Pro is a goalie) for settings.

For team play: Make good passes, don't turnover the puck, win face-offs, and make big hits.

Remember to follow your arrow for position play, but this shouldn't affect you too much if you're only playing the last 5 minutes anyway.

Worked perfectly. It took me almost a year to get to 80 games and then a week to play 70 games and get the achievement with CLET8's solution. Nice Solution.

I got all the requirements but I didn't get the achievement. Do goalie trophies not count?

yea I'm having difficulties with this as well, the checkbox for winning trophies isn't checked even though I've won multiple....? Other than that I've got the 150+ games and A- rating

Make sure the trophies you have won are INDIVIDUAL trophies, and not team trophies. Other than that, I'm not sure why it isn't working for you.

yea calder and conn smyth, just won the hart in second season and all the check boxes for the veteran card are checked off now (105 games, B+ , one trophy) but the card still says locked, reset the system (after saving) and went back in to check...says I'm back to 149 games played(should be closer to 200) and my trophy box is unchecked again. Thanks EA, thanks a lot

Same thing happened to me after finishing season 1 with 5 trophies, Pratt. All boxes were checked on the 2nd to last card (superstar?) but it never unlocked. I'm not sure if I played any games after that, but I saved and turned off and when I came back on the trophies were magically gone from the performance tracker. Fortunately I saved right before the trophies were awarded, got them again, played a Season 2 game and the card unlocked at the end of the game. I think you need to finish a game to get the card, just earning the trophies won't trigger it if that's the last checkbox you need. And if you don't do something that automatically or manually saves your profile, you may lose the trophies in the profile even if they're still there in the Be a Pro career. So manually save your Be a Pro and Profile before exiting, and try playing another game if a card isn't triggered.

Sorry to re-open this discussion again, but are you guys sure you can use a real player to do this? I'm just now trying to do this achievement (ya i'm a little bit behind lol) and i've played over 2 seasons (winning the Stanley Cup in both). I've also got multiple SINGLE person trophies, not counting team trophies. And i do have an A- rating overall. I'm using Sidney Crosby. I can't check the performance tracker on the main menu though because only my created guy shows up. But from what i CAN check, i have definitely met all the requirements...Any ideas here?

Where do you check the overall? I only see the "Overall Grade" at the conclusion of each game?

Great Guide... One thing to note... I had trouble with my profile not saving the games I played... when you finish playing for a while, back out and go to "My NHL" - "Save/Load/Delete" and manually save your profile. This will make sure you get credit for your games. I lost credit for 40 games because it wasn't saving (and yes I have autosave one)

You don't have to play the games... simming them works as well, although the game itself penalizes you for simming too much.

Also, it doesn't have to be a created player... the NHL version also works.

Do anyone know why I didn't unlock this achievement? I completed all requirements. This is second time when it happens. Game says "Legend card opened" but it isn't opened and I don't have the achievement.

It is important to note here that, unlike HL 09's position-specific achievements, your skill level can be set on anything you want.

That means you can put it on rookie, alter your sliders around and then, after simming the first 2 and a bit periods of a game, jump in and slam home 3 or 4 easy goals.

I'd recommend this method, and that above, for people who are ina rush to get this achievement done. Because in all reality you should be able to come pretty close to this achievement just naturally by playing through 150 games.

This achievement will take you a while (which is why only 9% have it). Under the Performance Tracker on the main screen, you can see that you need to accomplish the following:

*Play 150 games in one or more Be A Pro careers. This doesn't have to be the created Pro, you can get credit playing NHL Be A Pro. (I've mostly done this way. No, I don't have it yet, but I'm close.)
*Maintain at least A- grade overall.
*2 different player trophies in various Be A Pro careers (ie. not the Stanley Cup... the Art Ross and Hart trophies would work). Again, you can do this with more than one career.

The legend card is set up so that you can play two careers (an NHL season is 82 games, so 2 seasons will net you the 150 games).

*Turn off your line changes (so you're always on the ice).
*Turn off penalties/icing/offsides (so you don't hurt your Team Play)
*Bump up your shot power/accuracy settings, and score a bit. Assists are good, too.
*Checking players is also good for Team Play.
*Positioning is easy if you just keep moving to where the blue arrow tells you where to go... there's some leeway with that.

Or you can just play through 150 games, and you should pretty much get all the requirements anyway, especially on lower difficulty levels. It's the 150-game requirement that is by far the most difficult part of the achievement.

I'm doing an NHL pro (figured it'd be easier) as Malkin and it says "Minimum 200 games played" as one of the 4 boxes under for Veteran. Does that have to be achieved in order to get Superstar rank? You said you got it with an NHL Pro, how many games did that require?

It's been a really long time, so I don't remember.

This is time consuming Requires:

150 Games Played with Your Pro i.e Cameron Speirs.
A- overall rating with Your pro.
2 Trophies unlocked i.e Most goals in a season, most points from what i remember the STANLEY CUP does not count (Lets Go Red Wings 4 '09).

Tips:

Game settings:
No penalties
No line changes
Full Shot Power and Accuracy

Sim 55 Minutes or even 60 minutes if YOU think the game is going to OT then score a Game Winning Goal or Empty Net and you will get A+ A+ A+.

For Team Play; Win Faceoffs, get big hits, take lots of shots and get good passes to your team-mates.

For Stats: Get a goal or two and you'll get A+.

Position just make sure you follow the arrow.
