How to unlock the Grade A achievement in NHL 10 - Definitive Guide

This isn't very hard at all just play on rookie and keep to your position and get at least a goal or an assist and its yours.

*** Alot of people are complaining of this being glitched.. i thought the same thing, i got plenty of A ratings and even A+ ratings when my character was in the AHL but i unlocked it when my character joined the NHL, first game, A rating, duddle-da-dup, achievement unlocked. Hope this helps

Had two A ratings as an AHL goalie and it didn't pop. Stupid.

Actually, no, you don't. I just started a career with a defenseman and got it in my first AHL match.

This achievement must be renamed to "Pain and Suffering". I've played a full season and it doesn't pop, so I started a new season as a defense and I got it in the third match with A+, B, A+.

Just keep trying... and praying.

When playing a game you have 3 ratings: Position, Team Player, and Stats.

If you basically play in position or follow the guideline arrow, you will do well for position. If you pass to teammates, check, or get assists, you will do well at team player. Getting a +/- above zero, getting assists, or especially scoring goals will get you a great rating for stats.

Do well in all 3, and you'll finish with an A or better.

Note that this achievement may be glitched, or may require A+ (not just A) to unlock.

This one seemed easier to get on NHL 10, then on NHL 09. Basically try to get an overall average on A in your first B.A.P. game. I got
Overall: A
P. Score A-
T. Play A-
Stats A+
and it unlocked. Good luck

This is what was said around the forum. If you are having issues getting it with one Pro Character, make a new one and that may solve the problem. Additionally, there is speculation that you cannot get it if your Pro is in the minors, it has to be in NHL.

I got A, A, A+ and after the game it said I got an A+ average yesterday and it didn't unlock for me. I'm sure I'll get it one day, but it seems to be a bit glitched.

I started the Be A Pro career, firstly to gain the "Star Power" achievement.

NHL 10Star PowerThe Star Power achievement in NHL 10 worth 27 pointsGet the first star in a match with your Be A Pro character

Then I discovered this achievement, and I thought I could gain them simultanesly - but after trying a couple of times, I read the other solutions to this achievement, and thought I would let it be for the time being,.

After getting the Star Power, I went on to the next game, and didn't do very well i this game - got like B overall I think.. but the achievement popped for some reason, so perhaps it pops after you complete another game after you gained the A rating in a game.

Set your season to rookie and play your first game with the BAP character. Since it is on rookie, you can easily get goals and assists. You should get the first star your first game. Do well and you'll end up with a Rank A + overall. This will come within the first few games and the achievement will unlock at the end of the match. If it doesn't unlock, erase your old save and start a new one.

I did not get much help from any of the solutions even if there was 5 here so even if the game is now very old there might be a few like myself who continue to play it now and in that case if you read this I hope this will save you some time and frustration with this ach.

I dont think it is glitched but I might be wrong!
But if it is I believe that you get this achievement when you get your first A+ average rating because thats how i got it after my 12nd NHL game.

I believe the describtion is wrong or that it can possible unlock when you dont get A+ average rating but dont count on it.

In any way here is how I hope to help anyone who read this!

Play rookie difficulty!

DONT pick C as your pro player!
Reason is that it is very hard to get A on Team Play.

I got the ach being Left Wing and the most important thing is to shoot a lot at your opponents goalie. Early on i kept passing other players but what gives you good Team Play rating is to make many attempts at making a goal. Try to avoid offside and penalties.

But it is also very important to know how to move your player to get A or better at position.

For stats you get an A+ if you manage to score or make some assists.

Easiest way to get the achievement however is probably to be a goalie. In my first NHL match I managed to get A+ and that was after being horrible at the match before I got drafted. I choosed butterfly style but dont think it mattered but in case it actually helped me I want to mention that.

I just made sure to follow the blue arrow all the time and my team won 4-1.
Position is extremely easy as a goalie. Just follow the blue arrow!
Team Play i got A- so that can be the hard part as I dont think you can let the other team score so much. However sooner or later (sooner in my case) the other team might not get so many score attempts. And also whey they do you probably save most of them.
So if you just for some reason started the game. Go first to win 5 matches as a pro goalie while trying to get this achievement. (2 birds in one hit as they say).

Oh and my stats as goalie was A+ in this match!

If this guide helped 1 player im happy!
I know this is an outdated game when im writing this but this guide would have helped me a lot of frustration.

This trophy has been very buggy for many people. To get this, you will need to earn an overall A for your players grade. Make sure that you pass the puck, score at least one goal, and get no penalties. If you get a penalty, make sure that the other team does not score and make sure you intercept some passes from the other team and block some shots. You can set the game to Rookie difficulty and adjust sliders in your favor to make it easier.

*Tip* If you don't get this trophy after meeting the requirements, you have to start a new BAP save. No need to delete any saves. *Tip*
