I read and tried all the solutions and still was having trouble so I started searching around and found a really easy way. Put two controllers on, once the game starts pull the goalie of the guest controller then stand one of your players in front of the open net. Then take the guest controller and simply skate back towards the open net and hold the shot aiming stick towards the open net (with your player standing in front of it ) and hit RT. The puck should hit the players skate and go into the open net and get you the achievement. I should also note that I had offsides, icing and penalties all off and all sliders in my favor. Got this one this morning setting up a screen a couple of foot out from the goalie and calling for the shot from the point. Defensemen went high - and deflected the shot it. Video review for the high stick. You need reasonable good hand eye attribute to do this - was playing as a sniper with a few upgrades

This achievement is entirely based on luck. But if you are going for the full 1000 you should have gotten it multiple times after playing the 250 games. It happens all the time while playing online. The only conditions I know of are having the puck hit the glove or skate of one of your players. Or having the puck hit or deflected in by a stick near the crossbar. I wouldn't even worry about this achievement.
