How to unlock the HUT Champion achievement in NHL 11 - Definitive Guide

Hockey Ultimate Team>Play Game>Tournaments. Hit the L/R Trigger to scroll to Online. Win 4 games in a row without losing OR having someone quit on you for 1 tournament win. If people quit on you it wont count as a win. Do this 5 times and obtain 5 DIFFERENT trophies and the achievement is yours. The Featured Monthly trophies do not count towards this, and no duplicate trophies.

So quitting does not allow you to gain the achievement?

Adding to the solution by SnakeSlayer, I just wanted to clarify a few things. For one YOU cannot quit for any benefit. It will actually make you fail the tournament and have to start over. The kicker is that most of the time when you're winning, people will quit on you which... Doesn't count as a win either.

If you're like me and got screwed by quitters, you can attempt to boost this with a friend by joining the same online tournaments and searching for matches at the same time. Every once in awhile you'll be able to find each other and play. One thing I did notice, however, is it generally won't let you play against a friend twice in a row, so its not completely boostable.A better method might be winning the first three games of a tournament and play your friend fir a guaranteed win so quitters dont ruin it for you. Since it can be picky about playing with a friend, saving it for the fourth and clinching game makes the most sense.

As said above, featured tournaments don't count and neither do repeats.

(achievement not yet won, because I've won 7 tourneys... But 3 were featured. Winning the fifth has proved impossible with quitters recently.

I don't believe you have to be in the same online tournament to find your boosting partner. also with as dead as the servers are now finding your boosting partner should be easier.

The first part of getting this achievement is simply starting a HUT team. That's pretty straightforward and will be done for you once you select Hockey Ultimate Team from the main menu. Once you're team is ready, choose play game and then tournament. There are online and offline tournaments available, make sure you select an online tournament by using the L/R triggers to find them. From there, it becomes dumb luck. Win four games in a row without someone quitting on you and you'll get your first win, do that 4 more times and you'll get the achievement. They must be different tournaments and they can't be feature monthly events.

Winning these things legitimately takes time, effort and dedication. The best way to build your team is to play offline for awhile first. Use the players you get in your intro pack to win a few low level, offline tournaments and build up a collection of pucks as you go. Use those to buy Peewee packs. Any rare or exceptional players you get should be saved for the time being. Once your team starts looking a little bit more like an NHL team, players averaging in the 80's, you can try your luck online.

Luckily, you can actually boost this achievement with a friend. Party up and choose a tournament. Coordinate so that you're both searching for an opponent at the same time and you should match up together. If you don't find each other, you can back out of any game you get matched up in. It's best to do this at off times, like the morning or afternoon on a weekday, to make the searching process a little easier. Simply beat your friend, who should be pulling his goalie for you to score an easy goal or two, and repeat the process until you win 5 trophies. It's time consuming, but a lot faster than trying to find legit players who won't quit on you.

To make the time go faster, try not to play too much. Every stoppage of play adds about 10 seconds to the game which can really add up over time. Take possession of the puck and skate behind the opponents net. Your friend should take control of the defenseman who pressures down low and you should be able to sit still for the entirety of the period. This greatly reduces the amount of time the games take.

Cheers!

The online tournaments are basically just HUT versus mode with brackets only you can see. In order to win a tournament you need to win 4 games in a row. They can be against the same person. Quitting does not count as a tournament loss, but unfortunately if someone quits on you, it wont count as a win. You have to win 5 DIFFERENT online trophies. Winning one twice WILL NOT COUNT. This is easily boosted with a friend but will take some time.

NOTE: The featured online tournaments also do NOT count towards this. I won 8 online trophies before getting the achievement because I won one of them 3 times and I won the featured tournament once.

read trophy above. plus that you need to take five different trophies, I think... I’m not sure, but it seems so. if you take one cup five times. then in my opinion he does not go to various awards. but only in the overall status of trophies won.
