How to unlock the Past Their Potential achievement in NHL 12 - Definitive Guide

On the card there are 2 numbers. The bold one, which is the players rating, and the one beneath it. That is the players potential. You must get that player higher than its Potential.

1. This is done in Hockey Ultimate Team(HUT)

2. You will need a consumable card.
Ex - +2 all , +8 Skt , Higher cards work best.

3. Find a player that can hold 4-5 consumable cards.

4. Once he is passed his potential, kablamo. Achievement.

Hope this helps.

Try "than" and then maybe I'll take the solution seriously.

Can someone tell me how it is possible to get the consumable cards you need? My HUT team record is 16-0-3 (with 2 tourney wins) and I never have enough pucks to buy a card at auction (usually 2000+ pucks each) because I have to keep spending them on contract cards to keep my team eligible to play. How do you ever accumulate enough pucks??? Thanks!

I'm having the same issue. My approach has been to poach players in the mid- to high-70s that have more contracts than I can buy [10 or more] typically for 150 pucks. This, instead of buying contracts themselves for 150. A bit of cost-savings that is working to some degree. Still, if you don't have a stockpile of pucks you're sitting on, the contract system in NHL 12 makes things challenging [FIFA 12's equivalent is much less tedious and better designed IMHO].

Best way to make "pucks" is to buy the Pee Wee packs and just use the players until their contracts expire, then replace them with new players from your packs. You can then sell your contract cards on the marketplace making you some pucks. If you're just looking for achievements you can get by swapping players that are out of position too, as long as they have contracts available. Each Pee Wee pack is going to give you 2 players and 3-4 contract cards. Just sell the contract cards in the marketplace (it will take awhile as they marketplace is stagnant) and in a day or two you will have a couple thousand pucks. Buying the training cards you need for the achievement is best because opening packs typically doesn't lead to high numbered (8+) training cards. It sucks, but you'll have to be patient.

The easiest way i have found to get this achievement is to use a player that has 0/2 for training and the difference between there potential is 3 or less.

I used Ryan Whitney of the Edmonton Oilers who was 0/2 with a 86 overall and a potential of 88.

Then i purchased 2 training skater (+2 All) cards and applied them to Ryan Whitney and that put his overall to 89. The Achievement unlocks right away.

I was able to find the +2 All skater cards in the marketplace for a little less then 2000 pucks each.

Hope this helps to get this achievement at the lowest cost.

Between *their potential and less *than. Otherwise, great solution.

In addition to the previous solutions, you can obtain this without +all stats cards.

I had Mike Moore from the Worcester Sharks, he had 0/2 71 overall and 74 potential.

I used +9 checking and +9 Defense. Each card brought his overall up by 2. Ended up with a 75 potential.

This one is quite easy as you need a player on your roster that has only 2 available training slots, and his potential CAN ONLY be 2 higher than his current ability. For example a player that is 75 OVR and has a potential of 77 OVR, so you have to make him reach at least 78 OVR. You NEED to get two Training +2 ALL CARDS, and apply both cards to the player that has only 2 available training slots. After applying both cards to the player, the player will be 1+ better than his overall potential, and the trophy is yours.

This is done in HUT mode. There are 2 numbers on the player's card - the current over and the over that can be when leveling up. For example, a player has an over of 80, but he can be trained to 88. Your task is to make his over equal to more than 88.

Wind_2010's hint is incorrect, I tried doing the same, the overage did not increase. A trophy is not given for a purchased player with a pumped-up over.

I would like to clarify that each player has a column - Training status. There is a number (number) of possible training sessions for a given player. So, like a donkey, I bought training sessions and tried to increase the overall performance of the players to the required level. But usually when the number of trainings ended and a message was displayed that no more training could be used for this player, I got fed up with it. and suddenly yesterday I received this medal, unexpectedly. I’ll explain how I got it now. I purchased a Right Back from the BUFFALO NXL League TYLER MYERS. His over was 91 and you can train up to 92. But the number of training he had was 5 out of 5. Those. it is no longer possible to train him. His contracts ran out after 10 games (I bought with 10 contracts), I accordingly bought a contract for 20 games and applied this card to this player and suddenly they gave me a medal and the over increased to 93. So we need to let them (the players) play, buy contracts.

Yes, indeed, you need to train your player one overball point more than his overball is indicated, which he (the player) can get as much as possible. This is the honest way. This can be done by collecting training cards, or by buying them at an auction and training the player.

But there is also a trick. You can buy at auction a player who already has more overs than what is indicated on his card. Then we go into the lineup, look at this card, and voila, the trophy is received.
