How to unlock the Making Millions achievement in NHL 14 - Definitive Guide

There is a better way to get this achievement in your 4-6 years in live the life.

Setup:
-From the main menu go to Customize -> Creation Zone -> Create Player -> create skater. Go to the 2nd page player info an scroll all the way to the bottom and select drafted in 2013. PLAYER SALARY and put it at 12.860m. Contract type to a 1 way. Then go all the way to the right and make his potential 5 stars, potential accuracy high and max out all of his stats and apply.

-Now back out until you're in the Customize menu again. From there go to Roster Management -> Player Movement. Choose the team you want to play on on the left, and change the right side to Free Agents and find your skater and trade him to your team.

-Now to get your season started. Go to Live The Life -> New pro -> (THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART) BE A NHL PRO. Not regular Pro, you want NHL pro! From there pick your created Pro on the NHL team you put him. Adjust game settings to make it easier for yourself and start your season.

-I would play every third game and try an score a quick goal in your first shift then just quit -> but do this for every game you can in the preseason to make sure you make the team.

-Here is what you'll make:

Year 1: $12.860m (fav team)
Year 2: $12.860m (fav team)
Year 3: $12.860m (fav team)
Your contracts up you will be at 38.5m already. Just select the highest contract you can.
In Year 4: i got 10m
year 5: 10m but only had to go to dec.

Plus what ever endorsements you get by the end of this.

You will get the achievement as soon as you hit 50 million. Good luck.

I don't know why I didn't think of doing it this way and you even used some of my guide from Vezina / Selke from last year haha.

Thanks for the tips!

This was outstanding. I played every other game in years 1 and 2 for the purposes of Boost Slot unlocks, and then played every fifth game in years 3 and 4. Only took about ten hours total. Great call on this solution; I was mentally prepared to play ten full seasons. +1

In like my 5th year and I only got a 1m dollar contract. Score 100+ a season too. Ridiculous.

Got it, thanks!
I followed the guide, except for I turned Sim Penalty to Off, I didn't play a single game, not even pre-season. It didn't take me any longer as I also got it in December 2017 (season 5), with only $0.685M in endorsements. This could save people time as all you have to do is interviews and injury reports.

I got the achievement the same way Slevin24 has suggested here.

Create a player with a max salary and use him as your pro.

I used Detroit and I actually simmed most games, winning about 40-50 games per season. The way I was able to do this was by changing the "Be A Pro Simming Penalty" to OFF. What this does is negate the line demotions/possibility of being sent down to the minors when you sim games. This is a crucial part to earning this achievement as you will be able to get it much quicker while also being able to work on the likeability achievements if you haven't already gotten those.

It took me until the end of November of my fourth season of simming for this to pop. Won 3 out of 4 Stanley Cups and a few individual awards each year as well.

All I can say is have fun with this one...if you think answering interview questions are fun in season one, wait until you are still answering the same questions for the 100th time when you are in Season 10 of Be A Pro.

It took me until February of my 10th season to get this to pop. I won the Stanley Cup and a bunch of trophies every year, accepted every endorsement, and always took the highest paying contract. Here is what I made:

Got drafted pick 1
Year 1: $850K (Colorado)
Year 2: $850K (Colorado)
Year 3: $850K (Colorado)
Year 4: $4.735M (Colorado)
Year 5: $4.735M (Colorado)
Year 6: $4.735M (Colorado)
Year 7: $11.775M (Kings)
Year 8: $11.775M (Kings)
Year 10: $11.375M (Ottawa)

Not to mention I had $2.220M in endorsements by the end of this. Once you get your guy to an over 95+ your team will usually make the playoffs, but I always made sure to sim the playoff games period by period to see if we were going to win and then minute by minute in the 3rd. If it looked bad I intervened and won the game.

When you start a Be A Pro I suggest:
*Difficulty on rookie
*All sliders in your favor
*3 Minute Periods

You should be able to score about 90% of the time you take a shot because the goalies are in suck mode. Also, have a few saved files just in case of stupid errors. Good Luck!

Interesting to see your having some issue with this achievement, if it ends up affecting a lot of people the same way it's going to be very reminiscent of the achievement to get traded in NHL 13 that a lot of people, myself included, had issues with.

I'm only a few games into my first season so I don't know if this will be better or not, but if you choose to start in the NHL when you start your Live the Life you will only be on a 1 year contract it seems instead of a 3 year entry level contract. Perhaps that way you could start earning a higher salary sooner? When I get to the point of finding out I'll let everyone know.

So, I've been simming through season after season, intervening in the third period occasionally to ensure I stay on the first line and I am now in my 5th season as a 89 overall sniper, guaranteed 50 points, 30 goal seasons and my best offer in the off season is $0.875m. Do I just need to play a lot more games to force my point totals up or what?

I should mention that over the course of my first 3 seasons I scored 91 points, 73 points, and 59 points

I had about 150-200 points in each of my first three seasons. So I played a lot of full third periods to rack up to 4-6 points a game I made sure to meet my season expectations.

Okay, I'm pissed now. I just completed a season where I intervened to ensure my guy got 105 points and locked up the Hart, Rocket Richard, and Art Ross, not to mention he is now a 93 overall sniper. Wanna know the best contract offer I got? 1 year 1.805m. what the hell EA this is absolutely ridiculous.

Not sure what else too add...by the end of season one I had my likabilty bars all close to 100 and kept them at that level through my career except my last season where I knew I would hit 50M. In that season I mashed the A button because I didn't care if I got demoted or failed to answered interview questions correctly, I just wanted the achievement.

Okay okay, it sorted out for me. After another 100+ point season winning a bunch of personal awards I finally got the money I deserved. now that I am a 97 overall, I got offered 5 years at 10.6m. Just to sum it up, I went from $0.850m for the first 3 years, A DECREASE TO $0.650m despite scoring over 250 points in those 3 years, an increase back to $0.980m thanks to a 100+ point season, $1.805 for the next year, a jump to $4.585m for two years and finally, in year 9 I am at $10.605m.

I should mention I've kept my likeability meters at 100 the whole time and made captaincy during my $0.650m year.
