If you are going to do this with a friend, use the following guide:
Go to Community -> Leaderboards and look at the friends leaderboard to find your boosting buddy and invite them to a game, set up ranked shootout.
As the goalie, you need to hold RB and press the right stick in a direction to try and make the save. The shooter must shoot first and have the goalie react with a save for it to count; you cannot try the save first and then the shot. Should take a few tries to get the timing down but should be fairly straightforward.
