How to unlock the Master Collector achievement in NHL 15 - Definitive Guide
You will need to obtain a player from each team. Be aware that you do NOT need to get anything from the All-Star Teams, National Teams or Top Prospect Teams since they don't actually have players in HUT. These are the leagues you will need to buy from:
NHL (except All-Star Teams)
AHL
SHL
Liiga
Extraliga ledniho hokeje
DEL
National League (the Swiss one, not National Teams)
QMJHL
OHL
WHL
Edit: Thenixhex311 made this handy checklist you can use to keep track of which teams you need: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwtkngobSgaJT0VXdEFsOXh6cGM...
You can get the players through packs, but it is much cheaper to buy them off the auction house. I used a total of about 45.000 coins to buy each player on auction. Here's the sort of money you can expect to spend per player as of September '14:
Bronze players: 100-300 coins.
Silver players: 200-700 coins. (SHL players can be overpriced up to 2000 coins)
Gold players: 500-600 coins.
You can of course spend even less than the above if you're willing to wait for good deals to appear. Remember that you can always check your Collection if you're unsure what clubs you need to buy from.
Good luck!

The patient + Ultimate Edition method would probably be the easiest, as you would undoubtedly get a majority (hopefully at least) of cards to fill out most of the collection needs...and then after your 28 weeks of free HUT packs, go through and search for cheap players to fill in the missing spots.
Your other method is just to obviously just start dumping coins into each team/each league one by one until you reach the goal. This would pretty much be the only method available for non ultimate edition players who don't get the allotment of 'free' packs.
Needless to say, either way is a grind, with the 1st being slightly easier and more drawn out, but in the long run less costly. The only issue you are running into in both methods are NOT being able to find a player for a select team, which might be more of an issue with the first method as auction stock might be lower for obscure players as the game approaches 1/2 year from now.
Note that as of now it is damn near impossible to find ANY players online in the auction house for SHL, National, or Prospects...or when you do, its like the logo BS, where people are charging 20k+ for a freaking card.
Best of luck to all of you grinding this one out!
Buy packs and look cheap, take your time when doing this people cause wasting your pucks isn't the smartest way to get this done.
This is arguably the most time consuming trophy, alongside You're The Best. You will need to save up a considerable amount of coins to be able to afford the quantity of players required for this trophy.
There are 10 leagues in Ultimate Team, these are:
- NHL
- AHL
- SHL
- Liiga
- DEL
- Extraliga ledniho hokeje
- National League
- OHL
- QMJHL
- WHL
You will need to own a player in every one of the teams that are in these league. You can keep track of which teams you own players for by browsing your collection. You can either obtain these players via pack openings, or you can search for players in each team on the Auction House using the search filter options. The cost of such players will vary depending on the team they are, it’s very likely that you’ll be buying up all 3 grades (Bronze, Silver and Gold) of players to fill a player space in every team. This obviously will come at quite a cost.
The collections/teams you do not need to collect players from are:
- Blue All-Stars
- Red All-Stars
- Free Agents
- National
- Prospects
There are a total of 188 teams that you will need at least one player from. Players that are in other leagues besides the NHL can be incredibly cheap (100 pucks a player), so this is not as intimidating as it seems. You can keep track of all this through “My Collection,” to see exactly which teams you have players from. In total this will cost around 40,000 – 60,000 pucks. Think of it this way; completing a match will grant you around 1000 pucks. Winning a match will grant you around 1500 pucks or more depending if you win a title or secure a position (which will give you a bonus).
After you collect all the necessary players, enter you collection and the achievement will unlock.
- NHL (Blue All-Stars, Red All-Stars and free agents not needed)
- AHL
- SHL
- Liiga
- DEL
- Extraliga ledniho hokeje
- National League
- OHL
- QMHL
- WHL
Also, when purchasing, turn the card ( ) and see how many games the player has left on his contract. Naturally, if the price is equal, give preference to the one who has more games. This will help you buy "contract" cards less often.
Players from the last three leagues are found in the cheapest (600 C) bronze sets. Since most likely you will be buying them for contracts, it is advisable to collect them last.
Well, don’t forget to log into the mode every day to get free C.
