How to unlock the Own the crease achievement in NHL 20 - Definitive Guide
This achievement requires you to earn a shutout as a user controlled goalie in any game mode.
Unfortunately I don't believe using the previous method from previous NHL games of starting as a skater and playing the whole game that way, then turning on goalie mode in the dying seconds of the game works in this one. I’ve tried multiple times with no luck. Good thing is that this achievement isn't too difficult.
The easiest way to do this is in Threes, so go to Threes and set up a Threes Now game. Choose the NHL Alumni All-Time team (Hit Left Trigger to switch leagues from the team select screen) and set your opponent as Team Japan. Click the Left Stick to lock yourself as the Goalie. It may be tough to tell as the G and the C look similar, but pressing the left stick once will lock you as the goalie.
Once that's done, go to Game Settings > Game Settings and make sure the difficulty is set to Rookie. Once that's done, back out and select Stipulations and Select Players. Make sure your rules are set up as follows:
End of Game Criteria: Goal Limit
Period Length: 2 Minutes
Goal Limit: 3
Win By Two: No
MoneyPuck: Yes
Hit Advance twice, and pick the arena you want to play at. The game will start and your team should win without too much hassle. I had to make two saves as a goalie but there's no need to do anything crazy. Just move with the Left Stick and keep your body lined up with the puck and you shouldn't have an issue. Once your team scores 3 goals, the achievement will unlock. If you let in a goal, just pause and go to Exit and select Rematch instead of exiting out.

Let's go to NHL™ Threes region mode.
We try to win the toss: we bet up to 3 goals and both parameters are “yes”.
Before starting, select the goalkeeper mode.
If you're lucky, 1 goal will give you 3 points at once (you can boost it with restarts until the x3 coefficient drops) = victory
