To get to an overall of 84, you don't need your average player rating to be 84.
Mine popped with a starting line of 85-82-82, with lines 2-4 ranging from 79-81.
My 4 defensive pairs were 82-82, 81-80, 81-79 and 81-79.
My goaltender was 81 and backup 76.
This gave my team an offense/defense/goaltending ratings of 88/82/76 and somehow equaled an 84.
I found the best way to obtain coins was the rivals battles, as well as the daily challenges giving a relatively simple 1,000 coins each day. You also get 250-300 coins minimum from a rivals battle and the more you play, the more you will unlock objectives and get more coins. I have only been playing for 3 days and this has worked for me.
Many of the 80+ players can be obtained from the various free packs for completing objectives, but it is also easier to get 80+ players from the auction house.
From the auction house filter, set the overall for 80-82 (or higher, you might get lucky) and the buy it now value to a maximum of 1,000. If none are found, increase to 1,100 and so on.
Also, you can go to sets and trade 8 bronze players for 2 silvers, 8 silvers for 2 gold, then 8 golds (golds start at 75) for 2 golds of 80+.
