How to unlock the Kings Trophy achievement in NHL 2K10 - Definitive Guide

Okay, here's what I'm doing for goals/assists/points/shots, and grinding towards 500 games played:

- Do quick game, default sliders, but turn off icing, offsides, penalties, fighting, etc (anything that can cause a stoppage in play), play on whatever difficulty you want (I did rookie), and set period to 1 minute length.
- Don't think this really makes a difference, but make your team a strong one (Team Canada, one of the all-star teams, etc). I'll call this side "controller 1". This is the controller your profile should be associated with.
- Turn on a 2nd controller (I'll call it "controller 2") and make it go to the other team. Pick a weak team like Denmark, Belarus, etc. If you have other controllers, you can add them to this team as well.
- When the game starts, on controller 1, pause the game and go into Coaching Strategies. Pick "All-Out" as the attacking strategy. Then go into Controller options, and lock your profile to be the *goalie*.
- Now for controller 2, as soon as the puck drops, hit pause, coaching options, and pull the goalie.
- Now just let the AI score. Then repeat by pulling the goalie again, etc. If you want to speed up the goals you can keep moving defenders out of the way. If you're grinding towards 500 games played it doesn't really matter (even at 1 or 2 goals a game you'll have the 896 goals well before 500 games played, and the more goals you score per game the longer the game will take to play).

Even though you're not the one scoring, all shots taken & goals/assists scored are counted towards your total for the achievements (as it's your team, and you're the goalie). When I was moving defenders out of the way to speed up the scoring, I went from under 300 goals to the 446 required for the Oilers achievement in a couple hours, and got probably 20 or so games played in that stretch.

I *believe* that goals scored by the CPU count as well, as I know CPU goals count towards your goals scored on the trophy screen.

okay so instead of playing alot of games and scoring goals in all of them i suggest playing one game with the time set to 20 minutes.i used three controls.one on for the main profile to get the achievement and the other two on the other team.set one to play the goal amd put a rubber band on the left analog stick to make the goalie move out of the way for you on every play.the other controller do whatever aslong as its on the other team so the cpu wont come after you. keep scoring goals till you get this achievement.right this second ive scored 169 goals and there is still 12:50 left in the third period.

Key note: if you also put the penalties up for the game you can also get achievements for the 500 penalty minutes and the 30 powerplay goals

i copied this from my other explanation on the oilers trophy achievement.both are written by me

As well, look at the discussion for the solution in the Oilers trophy thread as some people disagree with doing the 20 minute periods, given that there are achievements for playing 50, 100, 200, and 500 games.

Here's an obligatory turbo controller solution if you have one. You'll need two controllers plugged in for it, so another wired controller or a Play and Charge kit is needed. As usual, this is one minute period quick games, set to rookie difficulty and icing, offsides and penalties off.

Player 1 (sign in as this one) should be a particularly good team or a created team with superstars, Player 2 should be Team Denmark or Team France. When the game starts, pause from both controllers and set the position lock to Goalie.

Player 1: Turbo controller. Left analog stick is rubber banded down, and the cn_A button is turboed.
Player 2: Wired controller. Left and right analog sticks are rubber banded together.

Player 1's goalie will skate down but still be somewhat functional. Player 2's goalie will flop out to the side and leave the net open. Now, any goals your teammates score will count towards your totals. The turbo controller will override the wired controller and auto-rematch when the game is over.

As an added bonus, this will also count towards your wins! While letting it run overnight for about 10-12 hours, I got roughly 100 wins and 600 goals.

Same as the "Oilers Trophy". Just play normally and it will be unlocked.

The number 894 is the number of goals Wayne Gretzky has in his career, the most all-time by any player.

This trophy will probably take the longest to get, next to "500 Games Played." It is a grind so just keep scoring (or do the goalie trick if you have more than 1 controller) and you should eventually get it.
