How to unlock the Lumberjack achievement in NHL 2K9 - Definitive Guide
since i was to lazy to go through team by team, player by player to find a fully bearded player i decided to make a player. You can name him whatever you want. go to appearance and set the beard type to type 15, beard length longest and beard color black. Next max out all his stats. save and exit. go into franchise mode and sim the season to get to the play offs. Go to the 1st play off game. You can use the 2 controller method here if you want. Now once in the game just score 3 goals with your created player and as soon as you score the 3rd goal the achievement will pop
I can confirm that Joe Thornton of the San Jose Sharks works.
You might not have to force this one. If you don't fancy any of the above tactics and want to go through a season normally, keep an eye on your own players during the games.
I started a season with the Calgary Flames and by the time I got to the playoffs both Daymond Langkow and Jarome Iginla both were sporting beards for some reason. Have a good game and the achievement is there for the taking.
Needless to say once you get to the playoffs you might want to help yourself with the second pad method to be sure, but it shouldn't be too much of a hardship to pop 3 goals in with the same player with some effort. Good luck.

Using the 2 controller method I got mine with Alexander Ovechkin. He starts off with some stubble and what looks like a full beard. I traded for all the best players on my team and just got 3 goals and it unlocked
Sim through the regular season with the Vancouver Canucks on Rookie difficulty with injuries and trades turned off; this will make things go by a bit quicker.
Once the playoffs begin, you'll have to play the games yourself. The Canucks will start the playoffs with two players who already have beards: Daniel and Henrik Sedin. They both play on the same line and if you're playing on Rookie difficulty you won't have a problem getting this achievement, probably in your first playoff game.
If you're having trouble, just increase the length of the periods and it's inevitable that one of the Sedins will light the lamp three times before too long.
