How to unlock the To Arms! achievement in Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom - The Prince's Edition - Definitive Guide
You'll have your first skirmish in ch3 after leaving the Canyon region.
It's basically a top-down army tactics battle.
Troops are one of three types that have strengths/weaknesses in a rock-paper-scissors fashion:
Sword > Hammer > Spear > Sword
Archers aren't specifically strong/weak against any one particular unit but try to keep them behind your other troops so they don't have to engage in melee. Also, they won't attack often unless they're stationary so stop moving once your melee troops engage the enemy and your archers will passively support.
Hold or to rotate your units so that you have the ones with the best weapons to fight against the next enemy units you'll be facing.
Hold to use Military Might points to replenish troops.
Hold to run (uses Might gauge in lower right screen. Replenishes naturally over time)
Press to initiate Shock Tactics. Makes all your troops do full damage to every enemy type and take less dmg themselves. Only use this in large battles as you normally only get one use of it per skirmish.
