I did this achievement in time attack mode as it ensured I would be able to activate the slime without the AI getting to it first.
I started will the last track and worked through them in reverse order as I had already completed beginner & regular difficulties. My thinking being that I had most likely activated the slime successfully on the earlier tracks.
None of the activation points were hidden and you have 3 laps so if you miss it first time round just get it on the next lap.
The achievement popped during the lap and I only has to do 7 of the tracks before the achievement popped. The last one I needed was on shopping spree so maybe start with that one and see if it's the only one you need.

No you don't have to finish the race, just did shopping spree and it popped right after hitting it.
