How to unlock the Forging Master achievement in NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... - Definitive Guide

Alrighty, strap in friends. This is gonna be a long one...

I would save this achievement until completing Ending E, making it one of the last achievements you’ll need. If you don’t rush through through the game and collect all items you come across as well as fight all shades you run into, hopefully you’ll have naturally acquired many of the materials needed.

There are 30 weapons in the base game, 3 weapons from “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC, 4 weapons from the “YoHRa” DLC, and 1 Secret weapon. How to obtain the Secret weapon...
This makes 38 weapons total. Only 33 of the 38 are required for this achievement so you will have 5 weapons you can skip upgrading altogether. Choose wisely based on your inventory.

I recommend including the Secret weapon in the 33 needed since it requires very common materials to fully upgrade and it will help you when farming the other materials you need.
. I would also recommend upgrading the 4 “YoHRa” DLC weapons because they are fairly easy to upgraded as well (especially compared to some of the other weapons). If you choose to upgrade the Secret and “YoHRa” DLC weapons you will be able to skip upgrading 5 of the base game weapons of your choice. The 5 best weapons to skip will be different for everyone depending on the materials that have been picked up, but generally the Pheonix Sword and the Iron Will are ones that requires many rare materials. The Iron Pipe, Sunrise, and Axe of Beheading are also good choices to skip, depending on your inventory, of course.

Now for the list...this is all weapons, along with all materials and how many of each material you need total to fully upgrade each weapon.

And finally, here is a list I’ve compiled of all the raw materials needed to upgrade every weapon in the game (including the “YoRHa” DLC, “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC, and the Secret weapon), along with how many of each material needed and their locations ⤵️

NOTE: If you’re about to rip your hair out grinding,I’d recommend trying out the auto-battle feature, which makes grinding much quicker and easier. However, this feature can only be utilized on Easy difficulty.

Another thing you can try, that’s worth noting, is setting the game’s difficulty to Hard. It’s officially been confirmed that rare drops and the overall RNG is better on Hard difficulty.

If you’re well equipped and (on Hard difficulty) taking down enemies quickly with ease then farming on Hard is what I’d recommend.

If it’s difficult and taking you a considerable amount of time running through the enemy spawn points you’re farming, then I’d say it’s best to set the game on Easy difficulty and take advantage of the auto-battle feature. At least until you’re better equipped to handle the game on Hard difficulty (if you’re still needing materials by then, of course).

Also, make sure to equip the “Mahzarken” Word on your magic and weapons when collecting all these materials. This will give a +30% item drop rate boost. This probably doesn’t effect ALL the material drop rates (not sure if it effects crates), but may as well play it safe and keep “Mahzarken” equipped til you’re done farming. If you do not have the “Mahzarken” Word yet see the Forlorn Necklace location below for how to obtain it.

•Amber [14] –
1} Purchase at the Material Shop in Facade for 6,000 gold.
2} B2 in the Junk Heap crate room (far north on first B2 map). Once you’re done breaking all the crates in this room, drop down into one of the openings in the floor until you die. This will reset the crates and put you back at the start of this room.
3} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (3rd door on the far right when facing all 3 doors). Once you get to the crate room (which resembles the underground lab), keep going until you come to a bridge. If you do not care about the experience or the 50,000 gold you get for finishing the 2 maps after this then after smashing all the crates on the bridge, jump off over and over until you die for good and start again.

•Black Pearl [15] –
1} Gathering spots on the 2 beaches in Seafront. One beach is right next to the fisherman npc (who gives you “The Fisherman’s Gambit” side quests), and the other is through the short tunnel you take to get to the lighthouse.

•Broken Antenna [37] –
1} Common drop from regular robots on any of the Junk Heap floors.

•Broken Arm [49] –
1} Common drop from regular robots on any of the Junk Heap floors.

•Broken Battery [5] –
1} Common drop from flying robots on floors 1F and B2 in the Junk Heap.

Broken Earring [4] –
1} Rare drop from “Shaman” Shades. These are the ones that are Nier’s size that shoot orbs. There are 2 that spawn on top of the Lost Shrine (after all fragments have been collected). When looking straight ahead at the save point next to the boss door look to your left to see a ladder. Climb it and the second one you come to after the first. At the top (straight ahead) is where they will spawn (this is also where you can get the “Mahzarken” Word that gives +30% item drop rate boost). To reset the spawn simply drop back down to the boss door, next to the save point, and enter then exit back out and climb the ladders again.
2} Shaman shades also spawn in the Northern Plains (after getting the Forest of Myth fragment). Best way to farm here is to ride the boar (after “Boar Hunt” side quest) around the Plains during sunny weather and watch for them to spawn. If you need to change the weather to sunny, keep entering and leaving the Forest of Myth until it changes. You’ll know you have it right when you enter the Northern Plains from the Forest of Myth and see a Shade shooting orbs around straight ahead. To reset the spawns you don’t have to leave the map and you shouldn’t if you can avoid it because it could change the weather. Instead, ride the boar to a npc standing nearby (if you enter the Northern Plains from Nier’s village make a sharp right and follow the wall on your right hand side until you run into him) and start the mini game. As soon as it starts you’ll be on a boar. Simply jump off to stop the game and reset the spawns on the map without changing the weather. There are 6 total Shaman Shade spawn spots on the map but they are all pretty spaced out. The boar helps with this but I find that the first method is the quickest and easiest.

•Broken Lens [5] –
1} Purchase at Two Bros. Weaponry for 900 gold.
2} Drop from regular robots on any floor in the Junk Heap.

•Broken Motor [11] –
1} Common drop from flying robots on floors 1F land B2 in the Junk Heap.

•Broken Pottery [2] –
1} Rare spawn from gathering spots in Northern Plains and The Aerie.

•Broken Saw [5] –
1} Rare drop from the small, armored Shades in the Northern Plains.

•Broken Wristwatch [11] –
1} Rare drop from the large, armored Shades in the Southern Plains. More will spawn during sunny weather. To change the weather here enter and leave Seafront until it’s sunny.

•Clay [18] –
1} Purchase at the Material Shop in Facade for 800 gold.

•Complex Machine [8] -
1} Random drop from Boss Shades (the big ones). These can spawn randomly in many places but are far and few between when trying to farm. Instead, I recommend replaying Nier’s Dream from “The Magic Stone” side quest over and over since it sends you to the Intro of the game and always ends in a Boss Shade fight. “The Magic Stone” side quest is given from the fortune teller in the Forest of Myth (must have all fragments).

•Copper Ore [88] –
1} Purchase at Two Bros. Weaponry for 480 gold.

•Crystal [16] –
1} Purchase at Material Shop in Facade for 2,400 gold.
2} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (see Amber #3 solution above for more details).

•Damascus Steel [9] –
1} B2 in the Junk Heap crate room (see Amber #2 solution above for more details).
2} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (see Amber #3 solution above for more details).

•Dented Metal Bat [21] –
1} Rare drop from small Shades in Northern Plains or Underground Laboratory in Emil’s Manor.

•Dented Metal Board [9] -
1} Purchased at Junk Heap from Gideon for 750 gold.

•Eagle Egg [4] –
1} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (see Amber #3 solution above for more details).
2} Rare spawn from gathering spot in The Aerie. The spot where it spawn is directly under the Chief’s house. Save at the save point when you enter The Aerie and take the bridge to the first platform here. Angle the camera so you can see if the gathering spot has spawned before you get to the ladder. If not, quit and reload your save. If it spawns then you’ll have to finish crossing the bridge to get to the ladder, climb up, run across the upper bridge, and jump down to it. If it’s not the Eagle Egg then quit, reload and repeat until it is. NOTE: Check the gathering spots by the save point each run. Sometimes Moldavite or Meteorite will spawn here.

•Elaborate Machine [5] –
1} Random drop from Boss Shades (see Complex Machine solution above for more details).

•Fluorite [18] –
1} B2 in the Junk Heap crate room (seen Amber #2 solution above for more details).
2} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (see Amber #3 solution above for more details).

•Forlorn Necklace [4] –
1} Rare drop from “Shaman” Shades (see Broken Earrings solution above for more details).

•Giant Egg [6] –
1} Rare spawn from gathering spots around Nier’s Village.

•Goat Hide [4] -
1} Picked up off the bodies of slain goats.

•Gold Ore [24] –
1} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (see Amber #3 solution above for more details).
2} Rare spawn from gathering points in the Desert, Barren Temple, or The Aerie.

•Iron Ore [263] –
1} Purchase at Two Bros. Weaponry for 1,000 gold.
2} Random spawn from any gathering spot.

•Large Gear [7] –
1} Rare drop from regular robots on any floor in the Junk Heap.

•Machine Oil [5] –
1} Rare drop from flying robots on floors 1F and B2 of the Junk Heap.

•Memory Alloy [14] –
1} Rare drop from P-32 robots (big ones) in the Junk Heap. There are 3 that spawn on B2. 1 is on the first map after you run thru the crate room in the northern most part of the map. The other 2 are on the second map of B2 in the large rooms. You have to go outside and re-enter to reset the spawns here.

•Metal Piercing [4] –
1} Rare drop from flying Shades in Desert (must have the Facade fragment for them to spawn). This is one of the hardest farms in the game since the flying Shades only spawn 1 at a time. There are 3 spots on the map that they can spawn. One is right after you walk up the steps from the fast travel dock (on a small sand hill), another is West of the Facade entrance (again, on a hill), and the last one is in the sandstorm area (you will see this one on your map). This is also how you farm the Subdued Bracelet. You should get the Metal Piercings you need well before the Subdued Bracelets.

•Meteorite [5] –
1} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (see Amber #3 solution above for more details).
2} Rare spawn from gathering spots in the Desert, Barren Temple or The Aerie.

•Moldavite [12] –
1} Purchase at the Material Shop in Seafront for 8,000 gold.
2} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (see Amber #3 solution above for more details).
3} Rare spawn from gathering spots in the Desert, Barren Temple, or The Aerie.

•Mysterious Switch [9] –
1} Rare drop from regular robots on any floor in the Junk Heap.

•Natural Rubber [1] –
1} Purchase at the Material Shop in Seafront for 700 gold.

•Pearl [1] –
1} Purchase at the Material Shop in Seafront for 3,000 gold.
2} Gathering spots on the beaches in Seafront (during Act 2 items don’t appear on the beaches until Louise is defeated and the big ship is gone).

•Pyrite [14] –
1} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (see Amber #3 solution above for more details).
2} Rare spawn from gathering points in the Desert or the Barren Temple.

•Rusted Clump [14] –
1} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (see Amber #3 solution above for more details).
2} Can be caught while fishing off the fast travel boat dock in the Desert using Lures and Sardines.

•Rusty Bucket [10] –
1} Can be caught while fishing in the Northern sand river in the Desert using Lures.

•Rusty Kitchen Knife [9] -
1} Can drop from enemies in Nier’s Dream (see Complex Machine solution above for more details).
2} Rare drop from small Shades in the Northern Plains.
3} Common drop in Act 1.

•Scorpion Claw [10] –
1} Common drop from scorpions in the Desert. Kill them and press “B” to pickup materials from the corpse. Scorpion locations are easily seen on the mini-map. Run near them to make them jump out and attack you (must kill the wolf Shade first).

•Severed Cable [15] -
1} Drops from flying machines in the Junk Heap (Part 2) on the first floor. *NOTE: You will need 10 of these for

•Silver Ore [124] –
1} Purchase at Two Bros. Weaponry for 1,500 gold.
2} Rare spawn from any gathering spot.

•Simple Machine [6] –
1} Random drop from any Boss Shade (see Complex Machine solution above for more details).

•Stopped Clock [3] –
1} Rare drop from the sword-wielding Shades in the Underground Laboratory in Emil’s Manor.

•Stripped Bolt [10] –
1} Two Brothers Weaponry for 900 gold.
2} Common drop from regular robots in the Junk Heap.

•Subdued Bracelet [3] –
1} Super rare drop from flying Shades in the Desert (see Metal Piercing solution above for more details).

•Titanium Alloy [27] –
1} “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC crate room (see Amber #3 solution above for more details).
2} Common drop from boss robots in the Junk Heap (see Memory Alloy solution above for more details).

•Twisted Ring [5] –
1} Act 2 rare drop from armored Shades in The Lost Shrine (after all fragments have been collected).

Those are all the most important materials to farm for. If I missed any feel free to let me know and I’ll add them.

Hope this helps!

Forlorn Necklace drops from the shaman shades. Best place I’m aware of is the top of they Lost Shrine. If you’re looking at the door you enter to get to the end game bosses, look to your left and you’ll see a ladder. Climb it and the second one and when you reach the top just run forward. Usually it’s a shaman and 2 armored shades that spawn. When done jump back down and enter that boss door and then exit to respawn the shades.

Subdued Bracelets are the hardest material to find in the game imo. They drop from the flying shades that spawn in the desert (after you have all 5 fragments). They only spawn 1 at a time (if they do at all) which makes this task so tedious. There’s 3 in the desert area. 1 is East of the fast travel dock, 1 is West of the Facade entrance, and 1 is in the sandstorm area (you’ll be able to see this one on your map). You can then exit the area and re-enter for them to spawn again, but I found reloading the game works better for these.

Some say turn on Hard mode to increase the drop rates when farming. I know it’s up for debate, and since it’s all rng it’s close to impossible to know for sure. When I struggled getting some materials to drop I tried Hard mode to see how it’d be and I did end up getting them after several more tries but again, it could’ve just been the rng. Even on Hard, it can still take many, many tries. Definitely make sure to have the “Mahzarken” word equipped on all gear for the +30% item drop rate. If you don’t have the “Mahzarken” word yet the shaman shade on top the Lost Shrine (where you farm the Forklorn Necklace) drops it.

Ok so I finally got this achievement last night and here are some tips I read online and stuff: for materials that are NOT RARE, like the broken wristwatch or forlorn necklace, do not equip the words for the item drop percentage because it makes rare drops more likely and non-rare ones less likely. I tried it and I can honestly say it feels like it works because with those words equipped I was getting neither of those materials and once I equipped another word they were dropping more often. Also, difficulty may seem like it changes the materials dropped by enemies but I have to say it may not be true, since I swapped to Normal for the last materials I needed and the grind felt the same as if playing on Hard. This may be personally my luck, but do not upgrade the weapons that require black pearls (the phoenix ones). Like I said, maybe I was unlucky but I never managed to get a SINGLE one lol so I suggest scrapping off the three weapons that require them and doing all the DLC weapons instead and the secret weapon as well. Finally, subdued bracelet was the hardest material for me to get for some reason. Took me like two hours just to get two, but I never gave up. Hope this helps for those still working on this because honestly, the grind is just terrible. Y'all got this!

Thanks to the free DLC, you can ignore ANY 5 weapons you want, keep this in mind, don't want to farm certain hard to farm shit? Skip it, I did.

Memory Alloy, I'd do it on hard, the first P33, if it doesn't drop, suicide, repeat till you get one, go to the next spot where 2 P-33 spawns, if first doesn't drop on, suicide it, repeat till first drops, finish out run and leave. This was the same tatic from the OG release.

I also ignored any weapon using Subdued Bracelet (game is an ass though it gave me 2 at the end of the game), got 1 Metal Piercing (for a weapon so I could skip 5 others), as Black Pearl farming was so easy, plus had plenty of giant eggs and eagle eggs somehow. I did my upgrade before I completed my "C" run as well. I also ran the junk heap a lot due to getting lost over and over again in my A and B runs lol.

Recycled Vessel bridge farming and suiciding is great spot for bunch of random goodies, I'd even go as far to do it on easy so you can do it quickly.

Zero reason to do any farming on "hard" except the P33 so you can die quicker.

As for Forlorn Necklace (after I removed the word up got 2 in back to back runs at the temple) and any "green drops" don't use the "word up item to grant extra percentage, leave it off", only use the word up for "gold drops".

I used this

A few helpful hints:
1. You can get all 3 flying shades in the desert. If you don’t see them right away, kill the little creatures in one of the 3 desert areas noted in the solution and then look at your mini map. You’ll see lighter grey spots which are usually the scorpions when they are underground. But, this is also where the Flying Shades hide! Just run over those light grey spots until the Flying Shade for that area of the desert pops out of the sand.

2. Playing on hard definitely increases the drop and rare rates. It was a feature in the original Nier and was not changed for Nier Replicant. Once you have the weapon from ending E, even if unlevelled up, hard difficulty is no longer a problem.

3. If you are having problems with rare drops showing up, save, close and quit the game and then go back into your game. It almost always helps. I kept a log of the drops before and after save & quits and right around 80% of the time there would be an improvement in the number of rare drops. I didn’t necessarily get the items I was looking for, but the overall number of rares was far higher. I also read that closing the game for 30-60 minutes between gaming sessions also increases the rate of rare drops. I only left the game off at night, and subjectively, it seemed like the rates increased, but I didn’t track that so I can’t say for sure.

Hope this helps 😊

If there is a good reason for the downvotes I’d welcome hearing them here in the comments. That way I can adjust or add accordingly to meet everyone’s expectations. Thanks.

It's an all-around good overview guide. Did not down vote. If I had to guess, people want details on how to best acquire each item needed in any upgrade.

I'd like to mention this because I haven't seen it said in any guides but you can equip words for magic and weapons that increase the chance of item drop rates. I recommend using the "Mahzarr" word as it gives you +25% Item drop rate. This should at least help with items dropped by enemies. Unfortunately I don't believe it effects items that spawn in areas.

@Blue Radium - I thought that may be the case for some. Even tho there’s a link to a guide for the locations, I could see how having to switch back and forth from this guide to that one would be inconvenient. I’m working on a guide for all material locations. I will add it shortly. Thank you for the feedback (and for not downvoting lol) 👍

Honestly I’m sad they didn’t add a achievement shop like in automata because I’ve spent 3+ hours now trying to get a giant egg and I saw I need 6 and I’ve only gotten one makes me just not wanna play

Does the Yorha DLC weapons not being required mean they don't count towards the achievement?

Some of the DLC weapons are way easier to upgrade than others, so I was wondering if I could ignore 4 hard to upgrade weapons, and just replace them with DLC ones?..

Does anyone have decent method of getting forlorn necklaces or subdued bracelets? I cannot get a single one of either lol. Also, you guys should try farming materials in the 3rd door of the recycled world quest. I've gotten a bunch of rare materials in the 3rd stage (the manor's basement) inside the crates. Anything from eagle eggs, gold ore, pyrite, moldavite, meteorite, titanium alloy, etc... Then you can just jump off the bridge until you kill yourself after gathering the materials and they stay in your inventory. Rinse and repeat.

Regarding forlorn necklaces, after trying multiple areas for upwards of 10 hours, the best place is definitely just the northern plains with the item drop bonus and running the game on hard.

All you’ll need is the boar unlocked, and have done the Forest of Myth fragment (that causes the shaman shades to spawn). There’s 6 spawns, but only 5 of them are worthwhile for camping (ignore the one by the scrapyard entrance).

Once you’ve killed the 5 shades, ride your boar down to the bottom (east?) to find the guy who gives you the sheep killing quest. Once the quest starts, get off the boar which will fail the quest and respawn all the shades. Rinse and repeat.

I ended up with like 50 hats and 30 chokers whilst running all the different routes. Grinding in this game sucks.

I think it's all luck unfortunately. I got forlorn necklaces in the lost shrine on the roof, took about 1.5 to 2 hours to get them all. Played on hard with the item drop 30% item. This just makes item drops MORE LIKELY so don't think it affects rarity. Also, I don't think difficulty actually affects the items you get either, but easier difficulties just makes it easier to kill the enemies which cuts down grind times.
For the solution, I would suggest putting
in spoiler tags, I personally would have preferred that using the guide.
The links were fantastic though, very helpful thanks.

@l8lTackyticsl8l Thank you very much for pointing that out. The last thing I wanna do is spoil anything. I added spoiler tags to what you referenced and more. If there’s anything else you notice that should be tagged lmk. Thank you again for your feedback.

I did all the farming on easy with assists enabled, from what I experienced difficulty did not effect drops I was playing between normal and hard for long periods but couldn't see a noticeable difference in drops.

Great tip from Sons O Liberty re: memory alloy, I would add to that though, you can actually farm 3 spots per run. To respawn the P-32 in the first area in B2 after the crate room which you'll want to farm anyway use the orb shooter on the way out after killing the P-32 to die , this will put you right outside. If you progress beyond that and back to the crate room to die he won't respawn what I could tell.

I had the worst luck with subdued bracelets and forlorn necklaces. I think the achievement , despite killing everything in my way and picking up stuff as I went took 15 hours to get what I was missing at the end.

I hate these kinds of achievements. It added an extra 20-30 hrs to complete it.

Just a heads up, you haven't added the dlc weapons materials in the list, titanium. Alloy you need 27 and there no goats hide either

@Mozzla94 - All the dlc weapons and materials are there from what I can tell…which are you referring to specifically?

@ WeezyMex - I think they mean in the big breakdown of needed materials: the list goes from Giant Egg to Gold Ore, skipping Goat Hide for example (which can be found on goat corpses like scorpion claws, on the Eastern Road). Fantastic guide, thank you for drafting it!

For the rusted clumps and rusty buckets, I had more luck fishing in the northern plains, just under the bridge that leads to the Junk Heap (there's a waterfall nearby, and you can see the boat that leads to the lost shrine). I brought 50-odd sardines and only caught the two materials and empty cans, didn't have to worry about actual fish. Sardines are purchasable from the Seafront shop once you've caught at least one, I think. I ran out of sardines before getting my last clump, but I think a lugworm let me catch the last one (I was half-paying attention)

@SpiderLink#2888 - ooooo ok I see lol I included TWORV DLC in the materials list but did not include the YorHa weapons in that list. I considered them special so they are listed at the bottom of the individual weapon breakdown list along with all materials needed for them. I suppose I could place those materials in the big list too if that will help ppl.

Thank you for clearing that up and you’re very welcome! I hope it’s helped 👍

*I have now included ALL DLC materials needed as well as their locations in the materials list 😉

Can somebody elaborate on the Amber farming method in B2? Every time I die I lose the materials I farmed. I just spent like an hour getting 9 Damascus steel, dying and resetting the crates, only to check my inventory and see that I only had 1. What am I missing?

@GoatND - apologies, I just now saw your comment here. That’s strange you shouldn’t be losing any inventory from falling thru the floor, whether you just collected it or not. That is how you are dying correct? From falling thru the holes in the floor multiple times on B2? You must leave the Junk Heap and save when you are finished farming but simply dying from falling thru the floor to reset the crates shouldn’t reset your inventory at all.

If you’re saying it is for you for some reason, then I would try the bridge trick in the Vessel DLC. It works very well also and is easy.

This just popped for me after upgrading the 4 DLC automata weapons. I can confirm I haven’t gotten a single bracelet or necklace but unlocked the achievement.

Boss shade farm good in underground facility B2 in very end. He respawn after you go to B3 and back. Also there is a 5 shades with stop clock. And about flaying shades, they always spawns in all 3 locations, not just one.

33/38 done.

The ones I didn't do was Phoenix Dagger and Phoenix Sword (because of Black Pearl)
Axe of Beheading, Spear of Usurper and Sunrise (because of Subdued Bracelet)

Oof yea it’s hit or miss. I just kept running around Nier’s village whenever I passed thru doing other other stuff. Grinding it tho, you’d just have to run a route where the gathering spots spawn and snatch everything up. Then head to a different map, turn around, and come right back and run the route again. All the while praying to the rng gods. The Eagle Egg isn’t fun to get either. I feel your pain, just keep at it. Good luck 👍

@Rickemosh - The 4 “YoRHa” DLC weapons DO count towards the achievement if upgraded. They are not required for this achievement and they do not count towards getting all the endings. I see that’s worded weird I’ll change the that. Thank you for pointing this out.

The 3 “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC weapons (Fool’s Embrace, Fool’s Lemant, and Fool’s Accord) count as well and they’re pretty easy to upgrade. They require Demascus Steel which can be found in “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC (the diary in Nier’s house after completing Ending A), OR in the Junk Heap B2 floor from crates.

So after completing Ending E will I keep all the weapons and upgrades I've been collecting? Even after the ending that deletes your save?

Cmdr Catto, you do need to complete Ending E to get the Secret Weapon, and yes, you do retain your weapons, kind of, even after your save is deleted. Take a look at the guide for the e8a898e686b6e382b5e383bce38390e383bc achievement. LethalTurkey7 answers this question in detail. Hope that helps!

I will briefly share the things I really needed to get this achievement, it's all just farming mats. There are a few specific items which were tedious near the end which I will note here:

Black Pearl - drops on the beaches at Seaport. There will be 2 spawns beach next to the Fisherman and about 4-5 spawns in the shipwreck beach. Just rinse and repeat, I saved at Seaport and hop over the Postman and jump into the water, this lets me tp to the beach and skip walking there. You need 15 so prepare to spend about 15 minutes/Black Pearl doing this. Here is a video:

Forlorn Necklace/Broken Earrings - both of these drop from the Shaman shades at the top of the Lost Shrine. Save next to the door, and just keep re-entering the door after you wipe out the 3 mobs (there will be 3 shaman shades to kill per run). You technically don't need to reload the game to reset the mobs, just enter and exit the boss room.

Dented Metal Bats - you can get these elsewhere but you wanna farm these in Emil's mansion underground, there's a specific room (like a maze) where these shades will drop them at a reasonable rate.

Subdued Bracelet/Metal Piercing - you only get these from flying shades. I've gotten some from the Lost Shrine (but if you kill them when they're not over land you won't get the drop), but you want to farm these in the desert outside of Facade (there will be 3). I still haven't got my subdued bracelets but I've gotten a bunch of metal piercings, so the bracelets probably have a lower drop rate.

EDIT: I ended up getting my first Subdued Bracelet in the Shadowlord’s castle during the waltz, a wave of 6-7 flying shades will appear. Honestly resetting each playthrough to try and get at least 1 Subdued Bracelet here would save you any time farming these in the desert. My 2 cents.

Eagle Egg - if you already went to the Aerie and got the fragment, it's really not a big deal. You can farm these relatively easily in the Recycled Vessel diary (third door). It will be the third wave where you can break a bunch of boxes and the Eagle Egg has a chance to drop in them.

Broken Wristwatch - these weren't too bad I just didn't have much at the end of my playthrough so I had to farm a bit. These drop from the armored shades in Southern Plains.

Remember you don't need to upgrade every single weapon to unlock this achievement, after it popped I still had 3 weapons left to upgrade, most of them requiring subdued bracelets lol. Choose wisely.

Hope that helps anyone! :)

For this achievement, you must upgrade 33 weapons to max level. There are 34 weapons in the game normally, and the free 4 YoRHa DLC will give an extra 4 weapons to work with that count toward this achievement as well. For a list of every weapon, their locations, upgrade requirements, and raw material locations... see HERE.

You'll want to do this after you've completed all of the Endings and are back in the open world. Grinding out all of the materials for this is going to take a bit of patience, so be prepared to spend some time on this (depending on your luck with items drops up until this point, of course). If you played the original NieR, you already know what you're getting yourself into. Replicant hasn't changed much of the original grind, so please reference Shadow's original Weapon Upgrading Guide found here

The only items missing from the list are those that are required to upgrade the "Fool's" weapons that you get in the Recycled World Quests. For all 3 Weapons, you'll need Damascus Steel which can be found on floor B2 of the Junk Heap. There is a room at the very top of the first corridor that has a plethora of boxes. You'll mostly get Amber while going through here, but you also have the chance to get Fluorite and Damascus Steel. You'll need 9 pieces in total. You can keep grinding mats in that room by clearing everything, going back to the elevator/to a different floor, then returning. The boxes will respawn, given you more chances to get the materials needed.
