How to unlock the The Little Mermaid achievement in NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... - Definitive Guide

This Achievement becomes much easier to obtain during your Ending C run (NG++) as the fundamental battle changes from the Ending A and Ending B battles. You'll be able to attack Louise's head during the beach phase and actually bring her down, allowing you to run up her tentacle and strike a lethal blow to her head ending the battle in under 5 minutes.

It also helps a lot to use Strength Drops and Magic Drops to boost through the earlier phases more quickly.

Just for reference, the Ending A and Ending B battles won't let you actually bring her down during the beach phase. You can attack her head but the timer will never fully deplete and she's able to fire off her song crippling your entire team.

It may be possible to get this Achievement during Ending A or Ending B but I wasn't able to do it over multiple attempts because you're stuck having to wait for two waves of spike attacks during the beach phase and you're stuck having to sit through some unskippable dialogue. It just adds too much time to the fight to be able to easily get the Achievement.

I just got this today on a different console. It is possible to get this on your first playthrough. I was level 30 when I switched it to easy and reloaded my backup save before the fight after finishing it on normal. I got it on my first attempt on easy. I never had to use drops. You just have to attack fast enough as well as skip through the dialogue and cutscenes fast enough. I don't think it matters but I was using a fully upgraded Phoenix Spear with Varul as well as Dark Blast with Gebuloth.

Just tried on Ending B on easy and it's not possible, it's like you say the timer won't deplete and she ends up getting the big attack off.

Just got this one on act one hard difficulty with little issues just used two strength drops right before you could attack and had about 45 second extra to spare. Without using the drops I finished about 13 sec over the limit. Do now to skip all the cutscenes it it is truly impossible

You won't be able to attempt this fight until you work on Ending C. You'll get another chance during Ending D, then of course an additional one after you've completed Ending E.

Out of all of the timed-boss fight trophies, I personally found this one to be the biggest pain. For that reason, there is a mailbox you can save at right before you go through the doors on the ship that lead to this fight. Create a save just in case so you can easily go back and restart this section if need be. The actual timed-part of the fight won't start until you are on the deck of ship (after you've made your way through the tentacles in the corridor inside the ship).

It is very much recommended that you use your Strength and Magic potions during this fight to give yourself a better chance. The fight will be different than what you experienced during Endings A and B, so be prepared. The start of the fight will be slow and she'll won't take much damage. You'll need to aim for one of her two "hands", but you won't see a noticeable HP change until she's going through one "whirlwind" attack (blows are on one side of the ship), and then Kainé & Weiss will tell you to aim for the hands. After this, you'll start to see her HP go down. Pop whatever potions you feel necessary and go to town. You can alternate between the two depending on where her whirlwind attack is. After the first hand is down, you'll need to take out some tentacles that appear on the deck of the ship. This is where you'll lose the most time. Utilize your Dark Lance, Dark Hand, and heavy weapon attach (triangle.png) to burn each one down quickly. Once they're down, the second part of the fight will start.

Now Wendy will be large and in charge, trying to smash you with her fists. You can't use magic attacks/spells on these, so pop a strength potion and get to work on hitting them with your weapon when they come down. Both fists will share HP, so you can alternate between them. You'll know you've taken too long if Wendy starts to shoot orbs at you. If she does, there's very little chance you'll still be able to get the fight done within the required time, so go ahead and reload your save.

After you take out the fists, you'll use your magic attacks aimed right at her big 'ol dome, which will then send her back into the water. Run/roll your way up her tentacles, but be careful as you can't swim and it's really easy to fall off the second tentacle. If you fall off, the time it takes for you to "respawn" is too long for comfort, so it'd be best to just reload your save. Once you reach the top, you'll want to throw anything and everything you have at Wendy. You can swing your weapon and use Dark Blast to get through her orb attacks flying at you.

Make sure you're skipping all of the cutscenes that come up during the fight and once you've defeated her (and if it was within the required time limit), the trophy will unlock.
