How to unlock the Upgrade Apprentice achievement in NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... - Definitive Guide

For this achievement you only need 5 of the 33 weapons upgraded to max level (4 levels each).

ANY 5 of the 33 weapons will pop the achievement. I would recommend upgrading the 5 best weapons in the game first since you’ll be using those the most to farm and what not. 3 of the 33 weapons that need to be fully upgraded are from “The World of Recycled Vessel” DLC which can only be accessed after Ending A (NG+).

*There are 4 additional weapons from the YoHRa DLC, and 1 Secret weapon that can be acquired after finishing Ending E. These DO NOT count towards this achievement so they won’t be part of this list.

Here are the 5 best weapons in the game, that count towards this achievement, and the materials required to max them out to level 4, as well as how many of each material and the locations of each material needed:

ONE-HANDED SWORDS:

•Phoenix Dagger –
-Silver Ore (18) > Sold at Two Brothers Weaponry Store for 1,500 gold (can also be farmed from gathering spots that hold ore).
-Giant Egg (2) > Rare find from gathering spots around Nier’s Village.
-Eagle Egg (1) > Rare find from the Aerie gathering spot directly below the Chief’s house.
-Broken Earring (2) > Drops from adult, magic-casting shades in the Northern Plains (cloudy weather) OR at the top of the Lost Shrine.
-Black Pearl (5) > Rare find from gathering spots on the beaches in Seafront Village (AFTER Louise fight and ship is gone).
-Amber (2) > Found in the Junk Heap, B2 floor. Go to the northern most area of the first map (where there are holes in the floor with steam coming out of them) and break open all crates in the area to find Amber.

•Fool’s Embrace (DLC weapon) – -Damascus Steel (3) > Found in the Junk Heap, B2 floor. Go to the northern most area of the first map (where there are holes in the floor with steam coming out of them) and break open all crates in the area for a chance to find Damascus Steel.

TWO-HANDED SWORDS:

•Fool’s Lament (DLC weapon) – -Damascus Steel (3) > Found in the Junk Heap, B2 floor. Go to the northern most area of the first map (where there are holes in the floor with steam coming out of them) and break open all crates in the area for a chance to find Damascus Steel.

•Labyrinth’s Song –
-Fluorite (6) > Rare find from gathering spots in the Barren Temple (completing “Disturbing the Sleep of the Kings” side quest will open up more of the temple and, therefore, more gathering spots. Can also be found in the Junk Heap, B2 floor. Go to the northern most area of the first map (where there are holes in the floor with steam coming out of them) and break open all crates in the area for a chance to find Fluorite.

SPEARS:

•Phoenix Spear –
-Gold Ore (6) > Found from gathering spots in the Desert.
-Giant Egg (2) > Rare find from gathering spots around Nier’s Village.
Eagle Egg (1) > Rare find from the Aerie gathering spot 1 level directly below the Chief’s house.
-Broken Wristwatch (1) > Rare drop from armored, adult shades in the Northern Plains.
-Black Pearl (5) > Rare find from gathering spots on the beaches in Seafront Village (AFTER Louise fight and ship is gone).
-Moldavite (1) > Rare find from gathering spots in the Aerie and the Barren Temple (can be found from gathering spots in the Desert too, but they seem less common there).

Again, these are just the weapons I would recommend upgrading first, ANY 5 of the 33 will do.

Hope this helps!

As far as I know the YoRHa DLC weapons and the E ending weapon also count in the 33 upgrade. They don't count for the collect all weapons achievement.
