How to unlock the ~*~Demonpower~*~ achievement in Night in the Woods - Definitive Guide
Demontower is a little game that you can play from Mae's laptop from Day 2 onwards, after Angus repairs the computer. Not gonna lie, it is hard, and, if you don't want to play through the game twice, I advise you to try unlocking the other related achievement in the same playthrough.
I'll explain how to unlock it in a while.
Here's what you need to know about Demontower:
- It is a 16-bit style dungeon crawler. You attack with and dash with .
- Your objetive in each of the 10 levels is to find a key, open the exit door and kill a boss.
- The key room will always be in one of the three eastern walls, or in one of the three western walls. Exit will always be on one of the three northern walls.
- It has a rogue-lite element, and enemies, traps and room layout will be diferent every time you die. Luckily, the key room and the exit door will remain in the same spot after each death.
- You start with 9 health, but, from level 3 onwards you'll lose a max health point per level. In level 10, you'll have only 1 health point.
- You can exit the game anytime you want, and continue later from the level you were in. But if you start a new playthrough of the main game, you'll lose your progress.
As for the Palecat achievement, you need to get the "good ending" to the game. In order to obtain it, you need a little of extra work. Not much.
At the start of level 2, you'll find a character that gives you some kind of code. Don't kill him. Write down the marked spot he gives to you, and do the same at the beginning of levels 4, 6 and 8.
When you reach level 10, you'll find, on the left, a room with eight tombs.
Interact with the four tombs that the character told you, in the order he told you, and you'll get a key that must be used on the giant bleeding corpse. If you kill the final boss after doing this, you'll get the achievement. IMPORTANT: If you die in the final boss, you'll need to interact with the tombs, pick the key and use it on the corpse again.
As I said, the game is hard, but doable. The first 5 levels are rather easy, but, from level 6 onwards, it gets tricky. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.
- You can find health in the purple vases, and randomly on regular vases and enemies. Also, the red enemies that are guarding the exit doors always drop health.
- Dash is very important. You can use it to avoid traps, enemies, and even to destroy projectiles if you dash towards them. For every level you gain a dash bar, allowing you to repeat the movement more times without cooldown.
- Enemies are rather suicidal. If you enter a room with lots of them, try to provoke them into killing each other. The guys that throw fire are very dangerous, but also can kill themselves and other enemies in a second.
- Don't ever mash . If you attack twice very quicly, your character will get tired and that is almost a guarantee of death. It is better to wait for enemies to come, space your attacks, and dash if overwhelmed.
- Never attack groups of enemies head on. They'll swarm and kill you. Try to isolate and attract them one by one. This is vital for the red enemies that guard the exit doors.
- Be patient with bosses. Avoid their attacks until they are open for damage, and never try to hit them more than once or twice in each opportunity.
- For specific bosses, there are a few tips.
- For the Level 3 Pentagram Boss, stay out of the pentagram. Circle around it, keeping the skeletons at bay with some attacks when they get close. Instead of attacking the boss actively, wait until he stops in a corner near to you, and then attack twice.
- For Level 6 Fire Boss, the tactic is similar. Keep always a tombstone between him and you to stop the fire, attack the ghosts when they are close, and when the boss stops near you, go out and attack once or twice.
- For Level 7 Blood Boss, never step on the blood trail. Attack once, quickly move, attack again, and when he prepares to shoot fire, dash away. Try to keep the exit door clear of blood, or you'll die when opening it.
- For Level 8 Knife Boss, dash around the lower part of the room so the enemies kill each other. Once only the boss and you remain, move to the three tombstones in the lower central part. Always keep a tomb between the boss and you, and if he stops near you, wait for him to throw the knives, and then go out and attack once. Be careful with remaining enemies when going to the exit door.
- Level 9 doesn't have a boss, luckily. Just don't get swarmed by the ghosts.
- Final boss is rather easy, despite you only having one health point. Remember to get the key from the tombs as I said before, interact with the corpse and then enter the boss room. REMEMBER to repeat the tomb-key-etc if you die. As for the boss itself, walk to him, attack and dash back. Sometimes he will dash too and sometimes you'll hit him. If you hit him, means he is going to attack, so don't forget to dash away. Try to keep him in the upper part of the screen, and you should defeat it easily. I made a video of the process, including the tomb thing.
- Don't step on the blood that spills after killing the boss. It will kill you, and, believe me, it isn't nice. It happened to me.

For Stage 7's Blood Boss, I recommend dashing towards (and through) its fireball attacks to get in one or two extra hits before it starts moving again. A similar approach helped when dealing one-on-one with Stage 8's Ninja Boss. Dashing through a knife will deflect it, and if you are moving towards the boss while doing so, you can get close enough to sneak in one or two hits before he resumes attacking.

Very nice guide! The Pentagram Boss is on Level 3 though, not Level 4
