I suspect that the missing diamond may be in the store to buy items about the game. I didn't understand the logic of the keys. What would be its use?

Last diamond is unlocked by collecting all fireflies in the final boss level. It will unlock as soon as you collect the last one, right before you go into the cannon to face the boss.
