How to unlock the Earn A-ranking in all missions achievement in Ninety-Nine Nights - Definitive Guide

Not that tough to do really as long your character is level 7 or over. The main factors seem to be number of people killed vs time taken vs combo count.

The three toughest levels seem to be the ue-war forest for Inphhy, varrgard castle for Asphar and the phylota flatlands for Dwingvaart and all three are quite achieveable at A grade if you can hit a 1,500 + combo.

For Inphhy, just after you have warped to take on the Pwuck king, equip your level 1 blade and wear the cursed choker (-50% attack power). This is about the only part of the level that there are enough baddies to rack up a monster combo.

For Asphar, the same principle applies but head out to the top of the map through the narrow passage, when you get nearly half-way along there are some powerful baddies which should allow you to get to a 1,500 combo.

For Dwingvaart, concentrate of retaining as much health as possible until the end of the level. When Asphar and Inphhy appear they bring a massive army with them, equip the level 1 blade and the cursed choker a 2,000+ combo is easily achieved.

Just remember to switch back to your power weapons and items once you've reached your combo!

Well said. I always thought the combos were the key!

Watch out! If you clear the cache of the xbox all A-rankings will be deleted.

yes cache comment seems to be true....i cleared my cache to sort out a problem with something (a little while back now...can't remember what it was for) and when i went back to get the last few A ranks all the missions were unranked..,I didn't even realise that was what had caused it

LOL, well that sucks....cause I had to do that to resolve an issue with my Xbox. I was thinking of renting/Gamestoping this one more time to go after the last few 'Chieves, but damn it doesn't seem worth it anymore.

This game broke my desire to 100% EVERYTHING. Especially with the "Reach Highest Level" thing.

A 1500 combo on the Inphhy level does not get you a A ranking, not a 1900 combo either.
And clearing the cache has not reset my ranking so far. But I will probably try to avoid it no, just to be safe.

After a lot of attempts I did eventually get the 1500+ combo. It was even a combo of 2258, but still a rank B.

I've played N3 on two different consoles so far, clearing the cache several times on both. This does not effect your ranks even in the slightest as they are stored on your savegame and not in the cache.

This may be a fairly stupid question (sorry), but do you HAVE to have "A" ranks on all missions, or will an "S" be fine? Cause the more I play this game, the more I just get "S's" on all missions without trying -_-

32 positive versus 3 negative, one of which is undoubtedly you. Which part of "community" are you struggling with, the bit where you don't have enough skills to get this achievement yourself ? This solution has *clearly* helped many people on this site.

Games take skill, this achievement takes skill, it's a few notes on a trick or two that will *help* you obtain the achievement, how can any solution gaurantee an achievement. Don't go blaming me for your inability to obtain achievements - skill is actually required for many games. Come back when your balls have dropped.

Combo isn't everything. I finished the mission with 800 combo, but had 108 orb spark. I used the blue attack on the group of Arif where the dragons are attacking, killing all the dragons and enemies.

On my 7th run through with Inphyy on the Ywa-Ue-Uar forest. I've cleared it in 18 minutes, 1,098 kills. 977 combo, 600 bonuses, guard survival rate 56%. Orb spark kills, 259. Still just a B rank. Givin that time is a factor you can't search the entire map for the treasure, and because the game pushes you forward no matter how far you advance, you can't kill every enemie. And your Max orb spark is not gonna be very high, it must come down to high combo.

Update: just tried again and this time 1,112 kills, 173 w/ orb spark, 66% survival rate, 700 bonuses. And get this.... 1715 max combo. But because I had to search the map for some health, it took me 40 minutes, ended up with a B rating. Getting really irritated to say the least.

For Inphhy's Ywa-Ue-Uar forest mission, I equipped accessories to increase the orb gauge as quickly as possible. I left my guard units right at the beginning of the stage and destroyed the first three enemy groups to fill my red orb gauge. I then ran around luring 7-8 enemy units into one big group, there were enough enemies in that group to fill my orb spark gauge. I grouped up the next 7-8 enemy units and hit the orb spark. I then dealt with giant frog and his minions. I did the same grouping up in the second half of the stage and then finished off Dwykfarrio. Ended up with around 1200 kills, 600 with orb spark, and only a 300 combo. I got an A rank.

I can attest to Sparkz's recommendation as well. Only took me 2 tries using this method. My stats: 14:43min, Kills: 1077, Orb Spark: 266, Orbs obtained: 7265, Max combo: 657, Guard survival: 61%. Rank: A.

I let all the guards die after the dark army, though I should have taken command and had them follow me to make grouping enemies easier. I also found that simply running (not dashing) still allowed enough time to get the A as the archers wanted to peel off and start shooting again otherwise.

My equipment:
Prominence sword, Orb Charm I, War Gloves I, War Gloves II, Divine Tiara, Aegis Charm II

Your tactic for Asphar worked really well. I hope your advise for Inphhy is just as good. For the info, when I got an A on Castle of Varrvazzar my stats were:

Time: 00:15:18
Kills: 655
Standard Attack: 622
Orb Spark: 33
Orbs Obtained: 8450
Max Combo: 3169
Guard Survival Rate: 48
Successful Missions: 9
Bonuses: 1900

Items I used: Hourglass, War Gloves I, Orb Charm 2, Deadly Armband, and I started with the Cursed Choker, switched that to Fleet Boots I after I completed my combo, and then switched that to Wrath Choker once I got back to the castle.

I selected both squads to be Heavy Infantry in the hopes it would help with their survival rate, but that didn't seem to help any, likely since they weren't with me at all during the mission.

Hopefully I'll be adding another post shortly once I complete Inphyy's Ywa-Ue-Uar Forests level

So I just completed Inphyy with a B. For the record, my failing stats were:

Time: 00:21:33
Kills: 1049
Standard Attack: 959
Orb Spark: 90
Orbs Obtained: 9082
Max Combo: 1680
Guard Survival Rate: 80
Successful Missions: 6
Bonuses: 600

I've got to do better! Hopefully that will happen tomorrow night...

I was hit half way through my combo run on the Pwuks and it interrupted my combo, so it shouldn't be too difficult to {{{hopefully}}} double my combo.

So I tried it again, and got interrupted again during the Pwuck battle. I saw the other solution on here about trying to get a huge Orb Spark on the last battle, so I gave that a shot since I already had the blue bar filled. I got an A using this technique. My advise is try for an either/or method. If you fail at a huge combo with the Pwucks, continue the mission and gather all the enemies in the final section for a ginormous Orb Spark. My final results were:

Time: 00:20:14
Kills: 1047
Standard Attack: 647
Orb Spark: 400
Orbs Obtained: 6282
Max Combo: 1051
Guard Survival Rate: 84
Successful Missions: 7
Bonuses: 600

Which resulted in an A rank!

Your solution doesn't work. If you are going to put a solution up make it useful to community and stop wasting peoples time

Its not the fact of my skill, and having a high combo along with orb attacks and other stats don't seem to affect whether you get an A ranking or above. But having said that i the rest of your solution is spot on and those 3 missions are the more annoying ones.

As for a little bitching match i'm not gonna do that with you. It doesn't matter about the positive to negative votes as it has no bearing on whether the solution is good or not. FYI i hadn't given you a negative vote until i tried out the other missions, and seen how your tips stack up against them. And don't worry man, i have plenty of skill but was just looking out for decent tips which i got from elsewhere.

When I was playing as Aspharr for the first time, I chose to go to Castle of Varvazarr instead of Fort Wyandeek and I achieved at least A rank in all of the missions and this achievement popped for me. I hadn't even played Fort Wyandeek so I assume this achievement will pop if you achieve A rank on the level you chose.

I'd recommend to equip yourself with the level 1 weapon + Cursed Choker item (-50% att.). Try to train your characters around level 7. You'll achieve an easier combo, especially with Aspharr on the Varrvazzarr Castle level which might be the hardest mission of them all. I'll explain this mission in a little guide :)

Aspharr - Castle of Varrvazzarr
- Turn around and walk all the way to the north (best is to leave your army by pressing LB + RB).
- Don't attack the enemy, just lure them all the way to the north.
- When you gathered them all, start button mashing the Y-button. If you have equiped yourself with the level 1 staff + cursed chocker you'll get a nice combo. Try to aim for a 4,000 combo (at least).
- Then just finish the level normally, easy A-rank I'd say.

Also don't forget that Aspharr has 6 missions, not 5. At the Eaurvarria Mountains you have to decide where you're headed. You can pick either Fort Wyandeek or Castle of Varrvazzarr. Both have to be A (or S) for the achievement.

Good luck :)

For all I know it does. Check if you got 6 A+ rankings with Aspharr. If you do, check if you finished Imphy's special mission with A+. Good luck :)

(noticed AkkonShinigami got the achievement, solution for other people dealing with this problem)

Inphyy - Ywa-Ue-Uar Forest

(From the attached video for those, like myself, who hate videos.)

Kill everyone until you can use your Orb Spark attack. In the final section when you can fight Dwakfarrio, gather all the enemies in that section into one place and unleash the awesome!

It pushed me up to an A rank after multiple attempts at the 1500 Combo with the Pwuks (They kept interrupting my combo). I did get a combo of 1086 there though..

My Statistics for the record:

Time: 14:50
Kills: 1166
Standard Attack: 736
Orb Spark: 430
Orbs Obtained: 5737
Max Combo: 1086
Guard Survival Rate: 63%
Bonuses: 800

Points: 458

This is a tip to help get and A rank on that 1 annoying Aspharr mission, Castle of Varrvazzar.

I had Aspharr at level 8 when i did this. I think the fact that i got some kills with my orb spark attack(blue gauge) helped my score.

my equipment was
item clover 2
giant bracelet 2
dark gloves
ageis charm 2
life globe 2

so when u start pick either the heavy infantary or archers.
1. leave your guard once the mission starts.
2. kill enemies until you have a the blue orb gauge filled.
3. go back to the start of mission and walk, (dont dash, some of the enemies wont follow you) down to the end of the thin path.

4. when all enemies have built up, equip cursed choker, remove all attack equipment you have on and put his default weapon on.
5. now try to get a 1,500 hit combo(i got 1,505 lol) use his Y attacks.
6. when you have a combo, use the blue orb attack you have been saving. there will be enough enemies to get a decent amount of kills with it.

7. now just beat the level as normal killing the bosses and others and hopefully you will get the A rank.

i had a low guard survival rate i think it was 43% and it took me 22 or so minutes to beat the mission.

Was having trouble with Vigk Vagk, and so i searched and found this. All credit goes to author as listed at the end.

"I heard some people having trouble with getting A ranks with Vigk Vagk. For those who haven't got them already, here's a tip:

If you're facing the enemy, just keep rushing (Right Trigger) into the enemy. Your combo will increase, however the enemy units won't die. You can go on as long as you like :)
After you've finished your rush-combo, you can easily kill them with X (mostly one hit kills).

I hope you'll find it useful, and good luck :)

Grtz, DarkDutch"

it really helped me. got a 3000 combo and got A's on both easily

Also, I would like to say, that combo's ARE NOT the most important thing, at least that is not what I found. Collecting Orbs gives you a much better score, ESPECIALLY ORBs that are collected when you use the BLUE flashing bar. I had many situations where 300 Blue orb kills, got me over 10000 orbs collected with only around 300 combo.

Use the collection method, luring enemies into big groups with a flashing red bar, one red bar can get you a blue bar, and then do the same thing with the blue bar, lure enemies together (you can use the dash RT to get them together or run spiral). One solid pack of enemies can get you a high combo and lots of orb kills and tons of orbs collected.

Combos alone with basic weapon i found to be a waste of time. (I used the RT combo builder with Vigk Vagk when farming, got over 3600 combo and still only got a B on one of his missions (didnt use blue orbs that time).

Good luck!

Basically, all you have to do is get an “A” ranking or “S” ranking on every mission of all 7 characters. It’s quite easy and should take you no time at all. This is the specific amount of points you need for each mission to get an “A” ranking and there is a specific way how these point are attained. Follow these xbox360achievement.org forum board links to know how these work (special thanks to TheMollyWhopper):

If you’re having any trouble at all attaining an “A” ranking add me to your friends list and message me (gamertag: Perpetualheaven) or refer to the xbox360achievements.org ninety nine nights forum board.
