How to unlock the An Honorable Death achievement in NINJA GAIDEN 3 - Definitive Guide

To perform hara-kiri your life must be depleted or someone is impaling you with their blade. If you’re slowly walking half dead and no one is around to rescue you, then tap to end your life. If you’re being impaled my an enemy weapon then fight them by tapping very fast and if successful, you will repel the enemy from killing you. Quickly tap and kill yourself. Trophy will unlock afterwards.

*Note* you cannot perform harakiri until you reached level 26.

This ability is earned at Level 26 in MP. Once you have earned the ability you can earn it when you are near death. You have to either mash out of a Steel on Bone sequence and then quickly perform it before an enemy hits you with an Obliteration, or use it when someone just nearly kills you. You'll know you are in the right state when you clutch your stomach and only hold your sword with one hand. A prompt will come up asking you to press when it's available. You can be interrupted until your screen turns red and it must complete to earn the achievement. Online MP only!

Correct, but the information is not complete. The execution itself looks like this: you need to get into a situation where the enemy does Steel-on-Bone on you and win in this mesh of buttons. If you succeed, you will be thrown back and you need to press as quickly as possible + . If you do everything correctly, your ninja will perform hara-kiri.
