The Dual Katana are a medium weapon that plays much like the Dragon Sword, though slightly worse overall. A lot of the combos are shared, though there are some unique moves with the Dual Katana that differentiate them (such as rotate LS+Y). Generally, if it would be a good idea to use the Dragon Sword against the enemy, the Dual Katana will also do a good job. The UT is also quite powerful against larger enemies like Galla and Ogres, though this will require there to be essence around, or some very careful timing to get the UT off before taking damage from the enemy. In Story Mode, they appear in Chapter 3. After getting the ID card, use the only other door in the room before heading up the elevator again, they will be in the chest in here. They also appear with moderate frequency in Mission Mode, though there are often better choices available.

If you find yourself with the need to grind out the 1000 kills in Story, there are two spots I would recommend. Chapter 12 has a respawning flock of bats in the area with the Save Point and the manhole to Tairon and Chapter 18 has a group of 45 Ghost Fish that respawn every time you use the doors to the Stairway to the Imperial Palace. Pick a spot, tap away at X until each enemy is dead, then leave and re-enter the area to start all over again.
