How to unlock the Journey into The Abyss achievement in Nioh - Definitive Guide

The Abyss is a new type of mode introduced with Bloodsheds End. This pits you in to a survival mode of sorts where you start with 4 debuffs. You can either travel to 4 different planes via the boats in front of you to complete these small areas which will each remove a debuff from you, or you can progress straight through the cave and fight a boss to complete the floor. Personally I went straight to the boss on each floor and managed to defeat them all with relative ease, they start out very weak and shouldn't be too difficult depending on your level and equipment. This will also save you a considerable amount of time.

Each Floor you progress through, will have gradually tougher enemies and bosses to fight as well as worsening debuffs. You can see the 4 debuffs on top of the screen and by pressing to see their effects. When you enter a boss battle you will be inflicted with any 1 of the 4 displayed debuffs at random, most of them aren't much of an issue but sloth and item disable can be troublesome.

The Abyss is a level located on the left of the map, immediately above the two twilight missions. Each time it is generated anew and when you enter it, 4 negative effects are applied to you. The healers in this level have their own, you cannot call back the guardian spirit and you will lose if you die on the level without it.
To remove four negative effects, you need to go through four random levels, at which you need to find a kodama (the sense of kodama is not needed here, it is indicated by a dot on the map). Completing a level removes one of the effects. These effects only work in the boss arena. I’ll say right away that it’s quite possible to complete the first few levels without removing these effects.
Each subsequent level of the abyss increases quite significantly in difficulty level and you will not be allowed further than the fifth until you unlock the Demon Path difficulty. If you play with a partner, there will be two bosses in the arena instead of one. But this applies to playing through the Torii Gate. When using cups, the boss is left alone.

-to reach level 20 of the abyss you will need to reach the “path of the sage” difficulty level - this is after the path of the demon

-a new path opens if you fill the progress scales or immediately if you kill the last boss in the OMI province in England (a picture with a ship), which summons eyes, it is single and you cannot summon anyone there.

- to do this, we simply go through all the story missions and quickly open new provinces
