How to unlock the Master of Quality achievement in Nioh - Definitive Guide

There are two major ways to get crafting materials: from disassembling equipment at the blacksmith and from mission rewards. Some materials are obtained from Twilight Missions (and you'll have to play a fair amount). On rare occasions these materials can drop in missions (e.g. Demon Horn from large Yokai Monsters). These materials have purple & green (divine) text color and are listed under “Smithing Materials”.

List of Best Materials:

Disassembly (at Blacksmith):

1. Tamahagane = Katana, Dual Katana, Kusarigama
2. Wood = Spear, Rifle, Bow
3. Ingot = Axe, Handcannon, Foot Armor
4. Lacquer = Head Armor (L/M/H)
5. Leather Cord = Arm Armor (L/M/H)
6. Leather Kozane = Torso Armor (L), Leg Armor (L), Foot Armor (L)
7. Iron Kozane = Torso Armor (M/H), Leg Armor (M/H), Foot Armor (M)
8. Divine Fragment = Divine Gear (any item type)

Mission Rewards & Drops:

9. Demon’s Horn = Dropped by large Yokai Monsters, very common
10. Writhing Tongue = Dropped by Onyudos (large muscular monsters with long tongue, often use tongue to attack)
11. Ogress Claw = Twilight Missions “The Bleeding Spider Lily”, also rarely dropped by Ogress boss on any difficulty
12. Hank of Yokai Hair = Mission Reward / Twilight Mission “An Ominous Cavern”, also rarely dropped by Hino-enma boss and Flying Bolts (white lady ghosts)
13. Bangasa Rib = Mission Reward / Twilight Missions “An Ominous Cavern”
14. Raven Tengu Feather = Mission Reward / Twilight Missions. Also dropped by bird enemies.
15. Spider’s Leg Husk = Dropped by large spider enemies in main mission “Spider Nest Castle” and Joro-Gumo boss (rare drop)
16. Gargantuan Tail Bone = Can be dropped by Gasha-dokuro boss in main mission “The Source of Evil”
17. White Tiger Fur = Twilight Mission “The Best and the Worst”, also rarely dropped by White Tiger boss
18. Umi-bozu’s eyestone = Twilight Mission “Foreboding Seas”, also rarely dropped by Umi-bozu boss
19. Nue’s Claw = Drop from the Nue bosses (appears multiple times throughout the game)
20. Kappa Shell = Dropped by Kappa Turtles with glowing shell (can be farmed in sub mission “Finders, Keepers”, very low drop rate)
21. Great Centipede’s Fang = Dropped by Great Centipede boss in main mission “The Silver Mine Writhes”
22. Orochi Scale = Dropped by Yamata-no-Orochi boss when defeating it multiple times. (replay main mission “The Demon King Revealed”)

Thanks to NeoElazul and Meepy for helping to complete this list.

Materials drop from enemies and are obtained by disassembling weapons. The more unique the weapon, the better the materials. But there is another way out - crafting better materials from lower quality ones. You can find crafting in the blacksmith menu.
The best materials have a distinctive lilac font color (and the same aura when lying on the ground).
In order for the required material to fall out, it can help to fight off the part from which the material is needed from enemies. For example, the demon horn of an oni falls with enviable frequency when the horns break. And they break from any hit. You can simply throw a stone at them. The same goes for other materials.

21- Oroichi Scale (drop from Yamata no Orochi)
If it didn't drop after killing the Dragons. You can close the game immediately and go back, you will find yourself at the last checkpoint and kill the dragons again.
And so on until victory.

In order not to replay all the bosses led by the dragon several times, after killing the penultimate boss of the “samurai knight” in the room, we save at the altar, exit the game and copy the save to the cloud or to a flash drive. If the required material does not drop out after the boss, load in and try again.

Hello everyone, thanks for the detailed list to the player with the nickname AnHel, you can get many items by disassembling weapons and armor from the blacksmith, when I entered NG+, I was missing 2 items (Fang of a sick centipede, and Scale of Orochi-8mi of the main dragon ), I took the Kodama Heavenly Cup instead of a helmet, Luck Charms, Kodama's Blessing (Hunter's Blessing) for item drops, and the Guardian Spirit of the Spider (Itokuri), and got these items the first time. When you complete one of the missions in the Dojo, you will receive Kusarigama is level 123, at this moment you will be about level 100, take this Kusarigama and upgrade the Snake Bite skill (Pulling a human enemy towards you), you can pump up the skill to the heap - knock him down. Having such a weapon, being on the Internet, feel free to raise killed players from the Red Graves and with the help of this Kusarigama you will defeat any opponent who is much higher than you, if he is still stronger than you, throw the talisman of Laziness and Vulnerability at him, and he is yours. If your main weapon is Kusarigama, join the Honda Clan, it gives bonuses to this weapon.

By the way, the drop of materials from mobs is not one hundred percent. Before approaching the boss, it is advisable to switch the Kodama blessing on the altar to the loss of materials. And it is advisable to wear a “kodama bowl” helmet, which gives +20% to the effect of blessing.
Will help you a lot on Yamato no Orochi. Because replaying a mission with 7 bosses when the drop from Yamato no Orochi fails is a rather tedious task.
After getting to the boss Yamato no Orochi, I advise you to first die there and change the blessing on the altar (it’s next to the boss). Your grave will be immediately in the same place where the boss fight begins. So you won't lose anything. Nobunaga and Kelly won't have to be hit a second time.

Before you go knock out materials from bosses, I recommend switching your guardian spirit to Itokuri, luck +50 and +30% chance of dropping from people and youkai. This is in addition to a bowl of kodama and a blessing for the drop. Nue did not want to give up his claw, but immediately shared it with this spirit.
