How to unlock the The Sentinel achievement in No Man's Sky - Definitive Guide

This whole series is very easy.

1. Don't die. If you die, the counter is reset.
2. Stay on an extreme world. How to check for extreme worlds? Your hazard protection should say EXTREME, the world's weather information should be in red when you first land, there should be storms, whatever chromatic metal it has should be Activated (Activated Copper, etc.)
3. Build any shelter, preferably a completely closed one.
4. Stay there, away from the door.
5. Keep the game in that state. Go to work, go to sleep, or something, until 32 SOLS (in-game equivalent to Earth day) passes.

The hard part of this achievement is the boredom. Building in a storm isn't much fun. You can't really hunt for stuff (except storm crystals) without burning through all the ion batteries or dioxites. Poor visibility has also claimed many travellers' lives. Life on an extreme world sucks, but you can do it.

Just 32 SOLS!

It does not work inside the structure. but try to dig a hole and leave your player there.

After update 1.03 , to get this trophy you need to survive 32 Sols (days) in extreme conditions. One game day lasts 24 minutes, so to get this trophy you need not to die for 768 minutes or 13 hours while on a planet with extreme conditions. You can take breaks, but you cannot die anywhere, neither on the planet nor in space. If you die, the counter will start from 0, although in the game it will still show the old values, because it shows not the current ones, but the maximum achieved ones.

Before the release of update 1.03 , it was enough to simply survive 13 hours. So if you want to make it easier to get platinum. After receiving all other trophies, reinstall the game without installing the update. This is only relevant for the disc version; the digital version will install the update along with the game.

It's even easier!

1. Get into a building on an extreme planet.
2. Open the inventory window - life support is not consumed (I hovered over the icon, just in case)
3. Go to bed.

It’s possible that you need to sit on the planet less, I’ve just timed it - 1 sol on the planet on which I started boosting this trophy lasts ~16 minutes. That is, you need to sit there for 8.5 hours.

Similarly, on my board, Sol 1 also lasted about 16 minutes, so Sol 32 came out in about 8.5 hours, maybe because it was a moon , and therefore Sol 1 was shorter there. I started the game in the morning, periodically charged the life support system throughout the day and saved when entering/exiting the ship. It seems that there is also such a nuance: even if the biome on the planet is highlighted in red, this is not a guarantee that the planet is an extreme one, it is necessary that the inscription EXTREME appears in the lower left part of the screen, then the trophy begins to accumulate.

During the entire time I was taking platinum, I never once encountered a planet with the inscription (EXTREME). On planets where the guard level “High Defense” is written in red, sols are also counted.

The easiest way is to look for a planet with aggressive guards (this also counts), then we find a trading station, on the landing site the counter is ticking. We're standing there waiting

Patch 1.13, I found a planet with an Extreme toxicity level (Also, storms happen on this planet).
The easiest way to boost a trophy is to find any room, get up and just put the controller down or go to sleep =)
I was boosting the trophy in the inventory upgrade capsule, the counter was also ticking in the buildings.

With the NEXT update, the counter was repaired, so you can safely fly away from the planet and from the system in general. In order not to waste time in vain, the most convenient way is to build a normal base there, hire specialists and discover recipes, engage in farming and so on.

We change the difficulty to the easiest, look for a planet with extreme conditions, land, go outside, see red shading on the sides - a sign that time will be counted (that is, you don’t need to be in a cave, cabin or building), leave the console overnight - and the trophy is yours. (That's how I got it)

Patch 2.30+

Using a space manipulator on a planet with a high concentration of guards, he made himself a hole in the ground and, using the same manipulator from above, restored the earth. After spending the night in this resulting pit with a roof, I received a trophy.

In version v4.02, all exploits associated with the trophy have been fixed.
When in a building, ship, caves, underground, etc. Time for the trophy does not count.
When you die, the timer no longer resets. You can fly away from the planet to do other things.
In order for the timer to tick, you must be outdoors under extreme conditions.

When completing this achievement, you cannot die, anywhere and in any way, death resets the counter. Although it is displayed as before, the increase in sols starts from scratch.

A couple of tips for those who have a digital version and want it faster:
- pump up the life support system with a couple of grades
- find any planet with extreme conditions
- go into any building
- measure how long it takes for the suit to discharge, for me it was about two and a half hours
- go about your business, remembering to charge your suit every couple of hours
- repeat 32 sols, don’t forget to save when entering the ship

What's the plus:
- minimum time, if you fly along the way, you will have to spend much more time, since being in the ship does not count
- no damage from extreme environments
- it's hard to die

The only downside is waiting and inaction.

I made this trophy on a planet with rabid guards. Game version 1.13. It seems that in this version the duration of the Solo Day has been reduced. Since I got this trophy literally in 4-5 hours. We do this: we find a capsule on the planet with a suit upgrade, take it and stay in the capsule. While you are inside, the harmful factors of the planet do not affect you and the life support system is not consumed, and the treasured timer is ticking. We put the joystick on charge and go about our business. Don't forget to check the power saving settings, otherwise the set-top box will go to sleep. And it will be very disappointing.
