How to unlock the I'm never taking this off achievement in Nobody Saves the World - Definitive Guide
The ability upgrades relate to the blue coins you collect from enemy drops/treasure chests. Once you've accumulated enough blue coins to fully upgrade one of the character abilities to level 4 (IV), the achievement is yours. It should come pretty naturally, albeit not specifically required, but just some pointers below.
Progress on the abilities can be blocked by character progress, i.e. if your characters are D, C, B, etc class. I recommend you find an ability or two you like and focus on upgrading those, as you will not have enough blue coins by game end to upgrade everything (unless you really want to grind). If it won't go any higher, check which character progress is needed and focus on completing that before upgrading further.

Thanks Greedy136. I'll also add that getting the 3 shards (clearing the 3 main dungeons), is a main objective from the beginning, so you might assume you can do it early. However, some dungeons are practically impossible until you've grinded and completed many hours of the game, and unlocked and upgraded the suitable characters (forms).
I am surprised these achievements have such a high completion percentage from players - the game is a lot tougher and lengthy than you might think. You can be killed quite quickly and unexpectedly if you aren't attentive or in the correct form - then you have to restart the whole dungeon!
Personally, despite playing for several days, I won't be going for this, and the majority of achievements, because it's become a grind and I've stopped enjoying Nobody Saves The World. It's also not obvious what you need to do, and where to go, to progress and complete quests - it's not the innocent, fun, and 'arcadey' kids' game that it first appears to be .

Due to the above mentioned level restrictions, the earliest possible unlock is after you have beaten the first three major dungeons. The form "Nobody" will be at a level, which allows to fully upgrade any skill which can be purchased at the merchant. This approach does not require you to progress far with any other form as Nobody gains EXP by story progression.
