How to unlock the Decrypted achievement in Nowhere Prophet - Definitive Guide
Since there are very limited tips on the web I thought I'd write a guide split into two parts. There are two reasons you're likely reading this. You want to get better at the game or... You just want a guide on how to win the last double fight and get a victory screen. So I'll split this in half and you can just go to the second part if you feel confident with the game generally.
--------------------
Getting to the crypt
Unless you're going for the 250 days achievement you want to focus on the path that will get you the most net resources and experience. Green tiles are great.
Don't be disheartened by the start the first area is often hardest as you have a very limited crew and no real strategy yet.
As for battles themselves I've found success rushing damage on their leader while just trying to mitigate too much damage on my side. You'll end up with a big squad so a few wounds for a quick battle is often worth it. Sometimes it's worth playing a wounded card for the reduced energy card but it's only worth doing if you're prepared to say goodbye to the card.
When you know a battle is coming up it's often worth using a luxury item to increase hope and give you an edge. It's worth saving hallusense for a big one as it's perk is very good.
You'll want a good mix of card costs leaning towards more higher cards in the final battles but you always want some low cost ones to get out on the field. I find 'charge' cards particularly good.
You'll want to decide early on a path of altruism, believer or scholar. I find it's obvious enough generally what a path will yield. I often go altruism as it's easy to accrue lots of points. Note if you sell slaves you can't get altruism at all.
Update 7th Dec 2020
After trying to do the harder difficulties, I found success with keeping my deck around the 14 card mark and keeping the cost between 2-6. That way you can play every turn and use your best cards with some certainty. This meant I generally didn't discard cards ever but I'd make sure I used the re-choose at the start of the battle to make sure I could play something off the bat.
This advice changes when you get to the final boss where I would change your deck for a more drawn out fight.
---------------------
Winning the final encounter
So first off you want to make sure you have used a good luxury item if you can the camp before the boss so the first fight goes fairly well. The boss rush strat works fairly well on the first fight but be sure to take out any scary enemies or if you feel you'll lose your best cards as you potentially have a second fight very soon.
Now the second fight is what inspired me to write the guide! You'll want to play it very differently to the rest of the game due to the terrain and the boss buff. Its 'echo white' will spawn a 4/4 shielded enemy that will be in play until you take out... But... You want to wait until you're fully set up with your best cards in play first before even damaging the boss. You can work expanding the terrain on your side when you have spare turns too. If you do spawn the 4/4 and are going to attack the boss in the same turn. Do all your boss attacks before killing the 4/4 as otherwise it will spawn again with no cool down!
I think this should give you all the prep you need and finding your preferred deck will come with time. I find the echo leader cards have some particularly nice combos.
Good luck!
Note: you also can surrender to the boss but if you do that without a sufficiently high score in one area. (36?) I haven't tried it yet so if someone can confirm. If you surrender without a high enough score you just lose. (Ryancamcam has said the surrender does not grant the achievement even with very high altruism)
Any comments welcome

Yep custom games disable all but cumulative achievements.

I've surrendered twice (with altruism at high thirties and fifty) and have not got the achievement. It seems you HAVE to destroy the bosses final form.

You can only get it if you play in the basic campaign mode in custom game mode and do not give daily tasks. The choices you make when fighting the final boss do not affect the reward.
