You'll get this very early on as it is an important function of the battle system. To break an enemy, take down their armor points (the number in the blue shield) by hitting them with their type weaknesses.

This took me about 10 mins just messing around. When you first start in town talk to everyone until you acquire Silver. You can sell that for 2000 coins to a vendor. Then you will have money to hire someone to follow you. I hope a guy for 600 to follow me to the silver mine. Before you go to silver mine open your inventory and equip a weapon, armor, etc. I went to bottom left and encountered my first battle. After attacking 5 or 6 times I won and achievement popped. I'll go back into the back to get more specifics for this guide to speed it up for you. You can probably get it done in 4 minutes with a little more direct detail. I'll update soon as it should be super simple to start new game and repeat what I did.
