Probably not, but keep me posted if you try it. I had earned it multiple times before the first patch was released, and multiple people had already complained about it being borked right after the game released.

I messaged them on Twitter and they replied asking the platform, which was very obviously Xbox considering the screenshot that I sent, so I dont know how much attention they paid there xD

I got a response from the team and they are aware of the problem and are looking into it.
The dev said he would contact me as soon as he had any other update on the situation.

Has anyone tried deleting their save on the console.. Loading up, refusing the sync and then playing a level with a gate to see if that forces an unlock?.. I've seen that work with other games... Not sure if it will delete progress other games I've had to do this with like Hitman kept level progress but reset challenges and their effect on the tracker.. Might work in this case if anyone wants to try.

So... Another interesting thing I found out:

Every person who got this achievement, got it before getting the achievement of finishing the Sanctum level (Level 12), which according to the guide, is not possible, you would only get the achievement in level 14. We might be missing something

OK folks I've just done a run on Xbox One and I got every gate till level 15 amounting to 525 spent and no achievement pop.. So that's the Xbox One theory out the window.. I also did the run in one sitting.. Didn't switch the console off at any point.

We must resume sending tickets and generally being a pain in the ass so them have to address us and our issue.

The one person that completed this...did it on the Series X as well.

I believe its the patch that caused the issue with the achievement.. If you played the game offline without the patch installed you'd likely pop the achievement.. But having just gone though the game once recently in 1 sitting on Xbox One I don't much care to do so again anytime soon.. Plus I'd rather pop the achievement online with a time stamp than without.. But it remains an option.

Well technically, the achievements now will only unlock once the communication with the server is made. This would only be possible with a physical version though... But I feel you, I have given this game 2 extra playthroughs just trying to figure this out with the rest of the community, but it's honestly more than it deserves.

I have the disked version.. I've just had some contact with someone at the studio and they've told me that they have received a number of tickets regarding this issue and are pushing them to the team but as of yet the team haven't felt the weight of requests... But I hear you.. As a fan of the series this game made me seriously question that.. Sloppy is the best way I can describe it without going into a rant.. I just want my completion and the game to actually be finishable.. This should have been addressed months ago.. We need all those effected to submit tickets on it.

Yeah, same here, big fan of the series since the first one for PS1... Not to say that I hated the game, it has a lot of interesting ideas, but generally poorly executed.

For what it’s worth, I do not believe this was broken by the patch. There was no day one patch for this game, and I filled the requirements long before the first patch was issued. This was broken, along with several other achievements, right out of the gate.

Oh yeah, that is definitely a possibility. The assumption was based on most people getting it before the update...Truth is, no one really knows what makes it pop on Xbox.

And as i've said before, most people that have this unlock it before the 500 requirement is actually met:

Level 6, Phat Station: 30, 40, 50, and 60 (180)
Level 10, Necrum: 40 and 50 (90)
Level 11, The Mines: 70 and 45 (115) *HERE WITH 385 TOTAL*

Level 14, Feeco Depot: 70 and 80 (150)
Level 15, The Yards: 50 and 75 (125)

I wonder if you can do this offline with the physical version of the game, with no updates.
It seems that the people who got this, got it before the lastest updates.
Problem is, even if it works, you would have to own the physical version cause you can't manupulate updates with the digital version

Game was released today on Steam and some people already have the achievement. The other time it took them 2 weeks to release an update after a new release, so an update should be around the corner!

The problem is that Oddworld Inhabitants is never going to take the Xbox version seriously because it sold so poorly. They sold seven million copies on Steam. It was on PS Plus where it was one of the most downloaded games in that service's history. Nobody on Xbox knows it exists. On TrueTrophies, about a third of all registered users have an achievement in this game (about 20k of 60k); on TA, only 1,500 people have played it, out of a registered userbase of 536,000 people.

There are a lot of factors causing that, but I doubt even releasing the game on this platform was worth it. Given the small number of sales on Xbox, and given that only a small percentage of people care about achievements, OI would be spending resources to fix achievements that only the people in this discussion care about. It would be nice to think they'd patch it because it's the right thing to do, but I think we all know that we're probably on our own.

I get where you are coming from, but the main problem is I don't think they are patching this game anymore.

They have patched previously glitched achievements, but they are not going to send a patch through verification process just to fix achievements... If any other patch gets released, maybe it gets fixed, if not, I highly doubt they will make a specific patch just for this.

This is it guys, I don't think it will get patched. I honestly think our best bet is to actually find out the trick to unlock this. Someone just unlocked it recently and once again, before the level where yoou spend the total of 500. There must be something we are missing

I've spoken to the recent unlocker and his unlocked when it was meant to.. Folks.. It will be fixed if pressure is put on the devs... You must understand that without reports being filed and constant pestering studios 'forget' or aren't aware of issues.... Anyone you know effected must submit a ticket on the Oddworld Discord.. If all of us did so it would be overwhelming and it would be addressed... As it stands people aren't submitting tickets in large enough number.. They have had a number of tickets on the matter.. But not enough to make them budge.. There is no work around there is nothing being missed... The tracker is broken and requires a fix.. Thats it..

The only solution I can come up with outside of that is to wipe all data including cloud and start again with the hope that it jolts the tracker... If anyone wants to give that shot go right ahead... But outside of that, please... Just submit tickets.. Sitting on our hands will not solve this issue.. Pleasure campaigns will and mass ticketing from effected players will.

Could try to bring this achievement issue with Vudix and his crew of Achievement Fixers... As they have connections and might be able to make something happen there.. But they are usually busy themselves.

First of all, the most recent guy got it before Sanctum (Level 12).
You are only supposed to unlock this in Feeco Depot (Level 14).
He did not unlock it at the right time, same for everyone who unlocked it. From my understanding, everyone who has this on Xbox gets it during the Mines or Sanctum according to achievement order, which makes no sense because there are no Gates during those levels...

Anyway, I think everyone here submitted a ticket, if that didnt work, it probably wont because I think the devs are done with updates. Updating a game is very expensive and they wont do it because of a couple of complaints, that is the reality of it.

Saying nothing will happen isn't helping at all.. Everyone hasn't submitted tickets.. There are over 1,700 effected on the site alone... Yet they've only gotten around 50 ticket submissions.. Our task is to get others to submit tickets and to continue to contact the studio and demand and serious answer.. Just throwing your hands up and say oh well isn't going to solve jack.. Well I spoke to the guy that got it last personally and he told me he got it after using a gate. He wasn't 100% saving the Muds either.. If you want to play the game over and over and see if you can find something that way nobody is stopping you... What is stopping us however is the tracker.. Which is broken.. The thing hasn't moved properly for all of us which is why we've all got different % despite all getting the same gates listed above... I've literally 100% done everything in the game.. I've missed nothing.. I should be the 2nd completion of this game...

My suggestion is to reach out to others that haven't gotten the achievement and request they submit tickets.. We simply need more tickets submitted.. That should be our task.. The other side of this is to constantly post about it in the discord.. To the point it becomes annoying and they have to address the comments... I've gotten two responses from community managers by doing this.. Every couple of days I go on and post about it.. When they make community posts... I post about it.

I see what you mean but truth is, out of the 1700 affected, probably only a handful give a crap about the achievement unlocking. We are a minority, not a lot of people care about achievements unlocking or not.

I also agree, if we do nothing, nothing gets done either, but from my experience with broken achievements and the way Devs adress the issues, it honeslty doesn't seem like they are going to update this game anymore. Even if the 1700 affected on this website complained about the achievement issue, it's not game breaking and therefore the devs don't see it as necessary to spend the thousands of dollars required to get an update running properly, and approved.

Hopefully I am wrong, but I do believe our best bet will be to find out what allows the achievement to unlock for some.

I messaged them again guys. Its the third time. I can't think what more should I do. I tried everything.

Cleared all saves and started again, nothing.
Tried to sum up exactly 500 at the gates, nothing.
Reloading a checkpoint at keeping on using the same gate again and again, nothing.

I don't know what to do..

I have messaged them a total of 3 times and got no response after the first reply, unfortunately. They simply started ignoring after the last update.

Guys.. I'm in the discord. I'm actively posting in there making posts about the broken achievements.. I don't see you.. Tickets are one thing.. Being in the studios own fan social media and where they post updates is another.. Be visible.. Ask for an update on the infomation there as well.. I make posts in the general and Soulstorm sections.. When I see posts from community managers or staff I post about wanting some infomation on a update fix for the achievements on Xbox.. Be clear about which platform you are posting the problem about.. If we get together enough in their chats we will be visible and under their noses.. You want to be a pain in the butt but not rude.. We are customers, we want the product up to standard.. Thats what we are asking for.. Enough of us do this it will have an effect.. Its in our hands to make this needle move by going to these lengths.

Tickets are one thing.. That gets the ball rolling, but make posts and try to have conversations about the broken Xbox achievements in the discord itself.. You'll see me there.

I got this by playing through the game until after finishing the Mines, I level selected the Mines again and went through the moolah gates so the total would be exactly 500.
(180 + 90 + 115 + 115)

It doesn't look like TrophicSilver08 started a new game and then unlocked it. It looks like they replayed level 11 (Mines) right after playing it for the first time. I have tried getting exactly 500 myself, but not until after I failed to get it the first time.

It's possible that it is exactly this mechanic that has allowed some people to unlock the achievement, but that once you get past level 14 you can't ever get it. It's also possible there's some way to 'reset' your progress by deleting the save files, etc., but it looks to me like the progress is saved server-side, which would generally mean we're all screwed.

I will try playing on another profile to see if this achievement unlocks using this method. If someone else wants to try on their main profile after deleting every possible data cache, it might be worth it. You might even try playing on a different console altogether if it's possible.

It might be important to not die or reset any checkpoint in the middle of those levels as it might screw up the counter, to make sure it really is 500...
I can see having a random checkpoint reset, the gate counting twitce and then instead of exactly 500 you end up with like 540 or somehting haha
I might try this in a few days on my main account after deleting saves.

Finally got it using Phantom's/TrophicSilver08's guide!

So the achievement should be story related and should unlock when we spend 500+ moolah. But it was wrongfully programmed to unlock exactly at the perfect number of 500. What do you think? Intentionally or unintentionally?

Eien, Yeah turns out thats pretty much what we had to do.. I just love how a previous solution for the bottles achievement came back around to be the answer for this one.. And that it passed me by for 6 months.. We were applying the PS unlock requirements logically to this as it was intended.. But wasn't properly implemented. That we missed it for as long as we did is amusing if a little painful personally as I put in a lot of extra time trying to work out this problem myself.. Upon seeing TrophicSilver08s unlock I reached out to them and we discussed how to best try to package what he had done and try to recreate it.. Which was at the time untested.. He actually had underspent on the gates the second time.. And needed to spend something like 42 moolah on a gate again.. I tried to edit that down so it was a little more straight forward.. Do all gates upto and including Mines and then just replay it once.. Which I believe was their original intention but missed something when doing it.. With the discovery of being able to do less at a gate and it counting towards to 100% as well...

So you could also in theory play Phat Station over and over instead if you wish and work towards the 500 purely on that level and replays (180)+(180)+(140)... That is however untested, getting the exact number is also difficult as it is random what you will find.. But doing so would bypass having to play 5 levels.. In the end I felt the best was the more straightforward approach as it better lines up with the overall playthrough goals.

It was definitely a mistake! Stuff like this happens all the time... Unfortunately the problem was brought up when no more patches were planned out.

They are a relatively small team and updating a game is an expensive process.

Fortunately you don't have to play the mines level in full. Both gates are close to the start, so achievement will unlock after opening the second gate. After that you can quit and continue with the story

Another theory out the window, asked one of the recent winners and they said the achievement eas earned with a digital copy. There is something during the playthrough that glitches this out, I wonder if we can find it...

Sounds like something is increasing the tracker then in these levels prior to level 14...

For now, only thing we have is: playing this on Xbox One might unlock it haha

Don't count on it working the next time through, either. I've played all the way through on a separate console without it unlocking still. Maybe the last patch fixed it though.

This achievement should be more or less automatic if you finish the game, yet only seven people have it. Six people lack only this achievement to finish the game - it's nearly certain every one of those people have fulfilled the requirements. I definitely have, multiple times. The other achievements appear to be patched, but this is clearly not. Waiting on this patch before I even consider buying their next game.

I don't think so. They never announced one, and my version of the game still launches without installing any new patches. I am pretty pessimistic regarding our odds of ever getting these glitches resolved.

As i've said before, last time they released a new version it took them 2 weeks to patch the other versions. As of now the issue seems to be resolved with the steam version so I reckon we should have something soon.

I wonder why they are so tight lipped on this.. All they have to say if we hear you, we're working on it. Its been 8 months since the last Xbox patch and it addressed none of the broken achievements.. Surely studios should know this lack of feedback with those experiencing issues is frustrating and creates distrust.

Submit tickets to their discord and be a pain in the ass.. Thats my only advice.. They are getting the tickets but as of yet the dev team still aren't feeling the pressure to make it a priority.

Just submit tickets guys they will address it if you flood the ticket feature on the discord.. This is the reason the game hasn't seen wider pick up from the sites users.. Having a broken achievement is kind of a deal breaker for a lot of people and at this point word of mouth has got around... We must keep pressing them for an address to our problem.
