Whose Side Are You On?

Kill 1000 Mudokons and achieve the Bad Quarma Ending

How to unlock the Whose Side Are You On? achievement in Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition - Definitive Guide

This is a little tougher than you might think. You can't just leave 1000 Mudokons behind, you have to actually make sure they die. It doesn't require perfection, but keep in mind that you only have the first 15 levels, and you can't avoid saving the 300 in the first level. There are 1152 in the other 14 levels, so you have some leeway. Some are difficult to kill, and a few are impossible as far as I can tell.

Note that I played this on Normal difficulty. I am not sure if it's possible on Easy, since the Sligs are such inefficient killers. I finished at only 1011, but there were quite a few I could just have easily killed if I'd taken some extra time. Here are my counts by level for benchmarks:

Level 2, The Ruins: 171 of 200
Level 3, The Blimp: 0 of 1
Level 4, The Funicular: 5 of 24
Level 5, Sorrow Valley: 18 of 32
Level 6, Phat Station: 28 of 32
Level 7, The Hijack: 15 of 15
Level 8, Reunion at the Old Trellis: 251 of 254
Level 9, Slig Barracks: 45 of 45
Level 10, Necrum: 26 of 32
Level 11, The Mines: 42 of 47
Level 12, The Sanctum: 0 of 4
Level 13, Escape: 362 of 414
Level 14, Feeco Depot: 25 of 25
Level 15, The Yards: 23 of 27

You can also kill them yourself with fizzy pows in areas there are no other ways to kill them. Example: I killed all 32 in necrum, killing the 6 I assume you missed in the secret area due to no other way to kill them.

As well as other methods like a brewnade or a brew bottle and a flare

For this and other achievements, do you have to start a brand new save file? (If I go for the good ending, I don’t think I can use level select?)

It was stated by others that you cannot use level select to go back and get a different ending, but to be clear I was not willing to test it to find out. None of the other ending achievements are obtainable using level select either, and they're all so buggy in this game I wouldn't risk it if I were you.

Wondering if difficulty matters here. I played on Easy to mop up some badges on Escape and the Sligs only killed 314 Muds angry

I hadn't considered it, but the Sligs are pretty ineffective on Easy, and it wouldn't surprise me if this isn't doable on Easy as a result. For instance, there a couple of sections in the game where Mudokons are climbing past Sligs and the Sligs will gun them down, but on Easy they probably don't kill nearly as many of them. I'll update the solution.

Nice one. I’m doing my no death run on Easy and going to have to do a 3rd playthrough it seems. Too much of a drop on the big levels:

Level 2, The Ruins: 159 of 200
Level 8, Reunion at the Old Trellis: 238 of 254

Unless I get a Miracle on Escape, going to need 357/414 if I match you on all other levels

Realised I can change the difficulty on the fly. So upped it to Normal for Escape. Managed to get 375/414 Muds killed. So now on 976 with 2 levels to go. Hopefully it pops during Feeco Depot!
