MISSABLE:

DO NOT go to the final shadow gate boat destination (the one that requires 3 blue keys) until you get the castaway and music box achievements or you'll have to do 90% of a full playthrough to get them. I was at 9/10 and went to that point of no return by accident (clicked it on map when I was moving my dog) and it took me 3 hours to run back through for this one.

Note - it's possible to rescue every captive and still miss this achievement. Make sure you interact with them after freeing them, or they won't count! If you leave the screen without interacting they won't be there when you return.

I've got 9 castaways and 8 music, and I think I'm near the end. I swear I went through all the levels very carefully.

With the game leaving Game Pass (tonight!), I guess that means another game I finish at about 95% gamer score on 😓

I can’t find a way back to the 4th Forest location or the last island location. Am I missing something or is the path locked behind the stone doors?

Is there a way to figure out which one you’re missing? Maybe by who is all at Oaktide Camp? I have 9/10 I went over this guide several times and everyone has been rescued.

You probably forgot to talk to one after rescuing them. Even if you rescue them all, if you fail to talk to then before leaving the screen they count as missed.

I’m having the same problem as DookyPatrol. I missed the final castaway and can’t get him because the door to that level sealed itself.

It is missable. If you didn't rescue one by point of no return, or you did but didn't talk to one before leaving the screen, you will have to do another playthrough.

Dooky, I got stuck at the last island behind stone doors too. Did you have do to a whole playthru to get the last one? I saw him and then thought "i will come back to get him later" but now the door is closed.

LifeExpecancy, please update the guide. If you miss the last castaway, you have to replay the game from the start as the stone door seals itself behind you. This room cannot be re-played and it is before the point of no return

I mentioned in the guide that if you even leave the screen without interacting with the captive they disappear and won't count. I'm not sure which stone door you are referring to though.

That has nothing to do with interacting with the captive. The last captive, on the island, a stone door closes and you lose him.

The guide needs a note that castaway 8 and 10 are through the door that seals...if you follow it you'll leave the door after 8 and then realise you can't get back in after 9. The sections of the video aren't in order. The door just above the locks contains castaway 9 and the door further up above the dash points contains 8 and 10. Simply put the order in this video isn't possible

Is there any way to go back and get castaway 4 or am I screwed? I was aiming up to get on top of the cage and for whatever reason it sent me through the door instead.

There are 10 castaways and 8 music boxes to find in Olija. This video lists them in chronological order. Additionally, the final collectible is located behind a Dark Door, which is a special type of area you can only visit once. If you completed the Dark Door area and missed this collectible, you will need to start a new playthrough. And after defeating the final boss the game deletes your save file, so be sure to backtrack after collecting the third blue key in the story.

Castaways can be found in suspended cages throughout the game, and to rescue them you'll need to use the harpoon or sword to cut the rope holding them up. Below you'll find a video showing their locations, although they're a lot easier to find than the music boxes. There are a few cages that contain enemies instead of castaways so if you're confused, make sure you keep track of the message at the bottom of the screen saying a castaway has been rescued.
