How to unlock the Cloverbrook Hero achievement in OlliOlli World - Definitive Guide
The Local Hero level is the blue triangle on the map that's isolated from the rest of the levels. To unlock it, each level has three score challenges, and you'll need to complete 25 of them within the area. Once you have done that, you simply need to complete the level you unlocked.
When trying to beat these score targets, I would suggest focusing solely on that. Don’t worry about challenges, or Masteries, or anything else. Just focus on learning each level and optimizing your path to get the highest possible score.
In the first 2 - 3 areas (Sunshine Valley, Cloverbrook, and Burntrock), you can certainly get away with banking a combo at a certain checkpoint, then continuing with the rest of the level if you find it easier that way. And if you bail, but banked your combo, that is ok too as long as your score is high enough. You’ll just need to finish the level at that point. But later on, like I mentioned above, that will not be possible.
Some extra notes for Sketchside and Los Vulgas:
At this point in the game, you will have learned everything you need to know to maximize your combo. Levels in these 2 areas are pretty tough, and will require a lot of practice. There is also not much wiggle room in terms of getting to the 25 Local Heros beaten, so you will have beat at least 2 if not all 3 score targets on each level. However, I want to list some tips I’ve implemented that helped make beating the Local Hero score targets a bit easier:
- Watch top leaderboard replays: not so much their absurd amount of tricks, but mostly to see the path they take and how many times they loop a certain area. Once you know that path, it just comes down to executing it.
- ABR: Always Be Rotating!! This is probably the biggest factor in generating a high combo multiplier. Since you cannot bail if you over-rotate as long as you go into a grind or manual, I found that at the start of the level if you hold LT or RT (whichever is more natural for you - I found LT better since you are tricking with LS) the entire time, you will automatically rotate in and out of everything you do (grinds, manuals, wallrides, quarter pipe airs, etc.). This drastically increases your combo multiplier. On levels where I would make note of being at say x25-35, and then started holding LT to always be rotating, I would easily be at x45-50+ in the same spot.
- Practice, practice, practice: It goes without saying but practicing each level, or certain sections of levels, will help you full combo them and beat the score targets. I would also recommend going back to the first couple of areas with this rotating trick in mind and see how much you can improve your previous highscores. On a few levels I tracked, I improved my highscores on average by 150%!
Good luck!
