This is cumulative and will unlock over time.
You first learn how to do grinds in the first area, Sunshine Valley, on the level "Bouncy Boardwalk". To grind, while in air, hold
in any direction over a grindable object, and then release to stop grinding. To perform a perfect grind however, you want to start holding as close to the object as possible. You will see a little green "Perfect" box appear if your timing is right. Repeat this 1000 times to unlock the achievement.
