The "Daily Grind" is a daily rotational challenge that you get one chance to put up a score on. You can practice the track prior to your run.
After your initial combo ends, so does your run. I think that you gain progress even if you fail the course and get 0 points, but just in case you should probably do one trick then just land if you want to get this achievement quickly over the course of 7 days.

I definitely had at least one or two wipeouts with zero score and got it on day 7.

Nice, good to get confirmation on that. How are you enjoying this one? I find it got really hard towards the end!
