You can obtain upgraders from artifacts, pacts, or bought from the Shopkeeper for ever increasing costs. Each time an upgrade is accepted the next upgrade requires an additional upgrader, so to do four upgrades from base you'll need 10 upgraders. With money alone you'll need a whopping 1050 to buy 10 upgraders, and while you should hit this by the end of the game it limits the rest of your shopping options so it's best to supplement with pacts and artifacts when you have the chance.

As your luck increases so does your chance of finding spells that come with upgrades, but this doesn't save many upgraders so I don't recommend taking an undesirable spell and using further resources to upgrade it just for this achievement. Focus on the card that's helping you the most in your run and you'll both get this achievement and have the best chance of finishing your run.
